He was on Sportscentre earlier this evening and he updated TOR,MTL,OTT on trade rumours and what each team has been up to. He came out and said Burke is pretty upset with the way the team has played it's unacceptable and that next year is boom or bust. He also said he wouldn't be surprised if he made 1 or 2 major trades, and that Burke is looking for #1C, another top 6 forward and a legit top end goalie. Again not sure how or if he can do it. But yes Dreger did say this. He said Burke will pretty much do anything to make the playoffs next year. Mentioned that Leafs have assets available (Beauchemin,Versteeg, MacArthur) to name a few.

From what Dreger said looks like Burke is pushing all in. I wouldn't be surprised if something huge happens where we lose our first next year and one of Kadri or MacAarthur are gone...I'm scared ****less.. Burke can be unpredictable.

First off McGinn isn't garbage. When he plays with Couture and Clowe he's played very good.. Niemi is becoming a good goalie. Huskins.....I can't defend at all. He does suck.

For the Leaf fans that are worried that Burke would dangle Kadri and another 1st rounder in a possible trade, RELAX!. Dreger mentioned that Beauchemin, MacArthur, Versteeg, Giguere and possibly Kaberle (depending on if he's going to sign an extension) are the names in play.

Burke LOVES Kadri and will give him every opportunity to succeed as a top line Centre or convert him as a winger in a Leaf uniform. The only way Burke would part with Kadri is if we absolutely clear cut hands down win the deal. So essentially nothing less than a massive overpayment on the other teams part. I could actually see Kessel going before Kadri is even thought about in any trade discussions.

Burke is also willing to take on bad contracts as well so this could be a unique selling point of his with any team that has cap/financial issues.

Yes Dreger said it. I watched the damn show tonight. I'm obviously paraphrasing what he said but yes he mentioned specifically Versteeg, Beauchemin and MacArthur.

By the Elements.... the Leafs are FUBAR. If what Dreger is saying is in any way true, then the Leafs future is going to get even worse than it already is now.

Ugh...

This isn't exactly new news. Burke's been trying to make a move since at least early december, and with every mounting loss the need for a more substantial move has increased.

As for those worried about dangling Kadri / 2012, that's not really a problem as long as the player coming back is one for the long run.

If he does find a trade partner, it'll problably have to be a guy that has fallen out of favour with his current team much like Phaneuf.... I don't see anyone available who would fit what we need though.

I'm not trying to be snarky here but just what assets is he talking about for the Leafs to get all that was listed?

I would assume he would not deal Kessel, that leaves Schenn, perhaps Kadri (though I'm not near as high on him as some are) and picks. Who else do the leafs have that is very attractive for other teams that will not create an immediate hole in the roster?

(I'm puzzled by the goalie comment, he has signed just about every goalie out there the last couple of years.)

Its time to

1) Fire Burke

2) Firesale/Acquire Picks/Full Rebuild

3) Have a team to be proud about 4-5 years down the road for one of the biggest if not the biggest fanbases in hockey, fans deserve better

Since both those teams are better then the Leafs and they both appear to have brighter futures I think I'd rather be them.

when the d man has more points than the forward playing on a team who got shutout 8 times is NOT fair

Burke is not going to do anything. He is a big mouth, all talk.

He brings in 4th line garbage and convinces himself its top 3 talent.

Toronto and Atlanta could be likely partners in the near future.

Kris Versteeg (LW)
Tyler Bozak (C)
Jonas Gustavsson (G)

Josh Bailey (C)
Blake Comeau (LW)

I could see that working out, Bailey is a center with more potential then Bozak, Versteeg is an upgrade on Comeau for the isles and a goalie is a need for the isles IMO, although I'm not sure if we should give up on Gustavsson yet.
