I see my computer being smashed into the ground after being hurled out the window if it comes to that.

Pronger and Kimmo is on another level than Coburn, Meszaros and Carle... and it's quite a leap to take to reach that level. Unless it's clear that the one or two of the latter three takes that leap in progress, or if Timonen or Pronger regresses too much (so far, so good I'd say) it would be so, so stupid to make this decision.

Oh, and there's no way we'll get Lydman and a high draft pick for Carle.

If we have to get rid of one of Coburn/Carle/Meszaros this summer, my pick would be Carle. I think he's easier to replace, and I still hold out some hope that Coburn will become a better defender with age and experience. Hopefully we won't be in a position where we're forced to trade anyone due to cap reasons this summer though.

I would really like to know why people still don't like Coburn? He's having a good year and he fits well with the defensive unit. Carle on the other hand wouldn't be as much of a hit if he were moved...particularly with respect to moving his contract. I don't dislike Carle..I would just like a player on the backend that produces more on the PP....

Carle's points probably give him more trade value too

He truly does have a lot to learn, but the problem is not his speed, I'd even say he's on of the better skaters on the Ducks defense.
And getting hit is not a problem if you throw about 4 hits per game to the opponent. He leads the Ducks roster in hits per game.
The main problem is maybe his decision-making. He often seems a little nervous and not agressive enough to come out for a 1 vs. 1 with the attacker.

I think he meant speed of the game decision making wise, not skating wise

Oh yeah, this makes sense. And I have to agree on that.

That's kind of funny/ironic/weird. I remember when we drafted him, the announcers talking up about how he didn't look like he moved as much as other defenders but was patient and smart, which made up for not moving.
