Close, Gagnon!

Looks like we may see another empty-netter tonight.

The Richards line has forgotten how to play defense, apparently.

The Oilers should be honorarily inducted into the Eastern Conference.

good win boys, and kari looked solid, but i am wondering about the cunucks game already, because kari has been pulled two times this season against them, you guys think they might turn to the ex cunuck raycroft for the vancouver game after the break?

I really think Raycroft is the guy you put in net.

I agree. Go with the matchup on that one. It also doesn't hurt that there is the Raycroft/Vancouver history. Give him a shot.

Oilers fans should be formally introduced to reality. Jesus they're a whiny bunch.

I didn't see the first goal since I was at work until the 2nd period, but I totally dug the fist-bump between Morrow and Burish, haha.

i agree raycroft already has something to prove ( to bounce back game from the awful Calgary game) and facing his former team will motivate him even more.

Not that this is surprising, but the Stars offense looks incredibly lacking without Benn and even more so without Neal

I don't know. It's hard to pick over a victory when you are recovering from your two biggest butt-whoopings

So does Niskanen get the Warrior Sword for both fighting and not sucking with the wrap on his hand, or is that injury still too serious to be eligible for the sword?

Is there any doubt? He should be knighted for that fight. Sir Nisky.

Ribs is only 1 assist behind Richards now for the team lead... that'll be an interesting race the rest of the way.

Does anyone know the Powerplay song the Stars were using?

no chance of kari not starting against the canucks..

if we meet Vancouver we need our number 1 to have confidence to beat them.

Give him another crack i say.

Raycroft gives the team the best chance to win against Vancouver until further notice. Right now everything is about winning and picking up points. For whatever reason Lehtonen has had his two worst games of the season against the same team. This is no time to exorcise demons.

Ironically, what if Lehtonen plays the rest of the games against Vancouver, Stars lose them, lose the points and fall lower in the standings thereby making the possibility of facing Vancouver earlier in the playoffs a more likely possibility? Pick up points and worry about the guy's psyche if it comes to it.

What if they dont?
what if he starts first game back, stops 30 of 31 and we win 2-1 on the back of kari..??

if your gonna use hypothetical what ifs to change your team fabric like who starts in big games, then you have to go both ways, the team is as strong as it is and is high in the standings because of kari, you give him the chance for redemption..

Dont forget Raycroft let in 7 against a much worse offense the two nights before..

Give Raycroft a go against his other "old team" in Boston later in the week. Give our number 1 the start the first game back after a 5 day lay off

If that happens then great. This isn't a roll the dice situation though with no argument to base a different approach upon. Your hypothetical is based on best case scenario rather than the data we currently have. What I'm advocating is clearly slightly abnormal but it's not unheard of. I also don't think it quite changes the fabric of the team. Raycroft carried the team during Lehtonen's sore back phase; he has the team's confidence. If the coaches decide to play the odds it's not like anybody will question which guy is the #1.

If you're not a fan of baseball then this analogy may be lost on you, but what I'm thinking is really no different from managers in baseball shuffling their starting rotation to allow certain pitchers to skip teams that hit them hard while allowing them to start against teams that they have strong numbers against. For this same reason I would probably start Lehtonen against Calgary the next time the two teams play. Is it worth pointing out that it's still conceivable that Calgary makes the playoffs as a low seed who could potentially match up with the Stars in the first round? In that case it wouldn't hurt to give Lehtonen a game against those guys during the regular season.

We're both talking about shielding the player's ego, to a degree. Just different methods.

I am soo jealous of that.
So providing the Stars stay aligned (pun intended), are we going to get a cup run avatar series going?
