No plans to leave early?

Edit: He might be better served to get into the system before Visentin and Domingue. They're both 92's and he's a 90 - Vis and Dom will probably each play another year of junior. Does Lee look at going pro after this season?

Vis will be fine. The Don mentioned in the broadcast tonight that he scored exceptionally well in the psych test the run potential draftees through.

Provided the team gives Visentin the time he needs to develop (which would seem to be the approach they are currently favouring) he'll develop into a solid pro.

Just how spectacular that pro career might be only time will tell.

In case you missed Oscar Lindbergs two goals in the WJC, here they are:

Penalty shot against Canada, the very first penalty shot in the clip, which turned out to be the GWG:

Oscars goal against USA:

Domingue won his 28th game of the season. He now has more wins than any other goalie in the CHL.

I think he could get 40 wins. There are 23 games left and he should play at least 17-18 games.

It happened only once over the past ten season in the Q and it was 2 years ago. Domingue was the back up behind Nicola Riopel when he got 43 wins.

Visentin leads OHL in save percentage and goals against average as well. Expect him to be very high on THN's top prospect magazine. This will likely cause some public outcry on the main boards.

Goalies are a different breed. It is so hard to gauge how they will turn out.

Case in point - David Leneveau looked like a sure thing. Beat Ken Dryden's marks at Cornell.

It is great that we have 2 legit goalie prospects (3 if we include Climie - who I like a lot).

Arguably 4 - I don't know if you're including Domingue or Lee but they are both legitimate prospects that may or may not turn out.

Gee, I wonder if Shoalts writing was influenced by the fact Visentin is Coyote property?

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sport...rticle1859366/

Quote:
They capitalized on what was Canada’s Achilles heel, goaltending, to erase the Canadians’ lead on just six shots. Artemi Panarin, Maxim Kitsyn and Vladimir Tarasenko scored on Visentin.
Quote:
Visentin made a few decent saves earlier in the game but looked shaky during the comeback, although head coach Dave Cameron, unlike his Russian counterpart Valeri Bragin who yanked starter Dmitri Shikin after the third Canadian goal, left the youngster in the game. Cameron said he never thought about taking Visentin out of the game.
Quote:
A major reason for Canada’s success in the last two games of the tournament was the sudden improvement in its defence. Once again, the Canadian defencemen kept the pressure off Visentin by collapsing around the crease to keep the Russian shooters away from him. But Visentin undid all of their work in the final period.

It was not so much that the goaltender let in a series of bad goals. Only the second one by Kitsyn, which came 13 seconds after the first one, was really soft. But Visentin was not able to make a single big save when his team needed one.

Wow, what a ****** bag. Even if it's true, if Visentin did lose the game on his own, you don't pile on an 18 year-old kid like that. Disgusting.

I've added RR's prospects table to the OP, with a little help.

Thanks RR.

Oscar Lindberg got ejected on Saturday for a hit on Luleĺ forward Konstantin Komarek. At 1:36 in this clip. The call was checking to the head, and Lindberg is now suspended for at least one game pending a league review.

...and scored yesterday, 2.10 into to this clip: http://tv.hockeyligan.se/main.aspx?c...d=464553649153

(and the league review came to the conclusion that the hit above was correct.)

Anyone catch the discussion Maloney had in regards to our AHL prospects and NCAA prospects. I was especially surprised by how open he was about wanting Brown and Hextall leaving school early to turn pro. I'm shocked because the downfall if they don't turn pro (politically within Coyotes management) and the potential trade impact this could create. It's also a statement on the development of the NCAA program. It's good for 1-3 years but beyond that, I think Maloney views that 3rd/4th year as a potential lost year of development at the AHL level.

Funny, but Tikhonov really is the guy I'd like to put on the NHL roster for a few games right now. If his defensive game is at least as good as it used to be, he's the most likely to fit in Tippett's system in a bottom-6 role, stick with the team and slowly grow up in the NHL. You know, a bit like Korpikoski.

Brown Has A Good Game

http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-hock...022511aab.html

The University of Michigan ice hockey team (No. 10 USA Today/No. 10 USCHO) held on for a 3-2 win at Northern Michigan on Friday (Feb. 25) at the Berry Events Center. Sophomore right wing Chris Brown (Flower Mound, Texas) had a goal -- the game-winner -- and an assist, while his center, senior Louie Caporusso (Woodbridge, Ontario), posted two assists. With the win, U-M stayed within one point of first-place Notre Dame, which beat Western Michigan tonight, in the CCHA standings with one game remaining in the regular season .........

....... Brown in the inner right circle and the sophomore immediately lifted a shot into the top left corner of the net for his fourth goal in five games.

Regarding Turris - remember he was a dominant player at the 2007 - 08 World Juniors? He led Canada in scoring 7 games 4 goal 4 assists. I was ecstatic that he was the real deal. A legit #1 centre for the future. Commentators raved about his amazing shot and two way play.

He played on a line with Brad Marchand and Claude Giroux. With the terrific years they are both having (in the NHL) it makes me wonder how much they were responsible for his success at that tournament.

Similarly, we traded UP to get Sjostrom because Edmonton was apparently going to draft him. They had to settle for enigmatic prospect Ales Hemsky. Sjostrom looked like the real deal playing for the Calgary Hitmen alongside centre Ryan Getzlaf.

Not saying Turris is a bust (I still think he can be our number one centre - if they don't give up on him ala Briere). Just thought it was an interesting angle.

You're probably thinking of the super series, but Gagner was slotted in between those two. Everone kept raving about Gagner's play, but I thought Giroux was by far the best player followed by Turris. Turris was line mates with Tavares and Perron. I don't believe he had many assists, mainly due to Perron being a pick hog on that line. Perhaps maybe my evaluation is skewed because I just wanted Turris to keep up his hot play, but I do believe Turris had a lopsided goal to assist ratio.
