Miserable options for HBL line.

First, HFboards and Broadstreethockey do a magnificent job covering and discussing the Flyers. If you're following the name the HBL line name issue, the final two possible names are Two and a half men and the tastykake kids according to a last man standing fan voting contest.

These names are horrible and not in the spirit of the Flyers. Are we honestly going to adopt either of those names? The original post stated that the results would be slipped to Jim Jackson for his suggested usage during the games.

I know it will be asked what my suggestion would be, since I'm criticizing the ones left standing. The best I've heard so far are the HartBreakLine and the LSD line (which probably would never happen in virtue of being a drug reference).

My other suggestion would be something like:

The DVS line. Danny, Ville, and Scotty.

When you say it outloud, it says "Devious", so it would be the "Devious" line.

And that's just off the top of my head. Can't we do better than Tastycake kids, which is bad enough to hear someone score for a box of one. It is unmanly. Or Two and a Half men, which is basically a knock on one of the tougher small guys around in a big man league?

I'm sure I'll get flamed, but it had to be said. Do not adopt either of those names. ugh.

I like that, but I think Two and a Half Men is a pretty funny line name and I wouldn't have a problem with it

I like the Devious idea. Not because it makes sense, (which it hardly does) but just because it sounds cool.

I really REALLY don't want to hear "the tastykake kids score for a case of tastykakes" EVER

What's wrong with just calling it the HBL line? You can't force a nickname anyways.

I hate Two and a half men. Like seriously, are the Flyers going to allow one of their players to be insulted everytime the team scores? I don't think so. And calling Briere "Half a man", is wrong on so many levels.

I like Devious a little, but unless it is crazy 8's or Legion of Doom type of "catchy" - then line names really don't matter. I prefer it as the "Briere line", "Richards line", "Carter line" and "Betts line".

I think nicknames should be reserved for very special lines, just like nicknames should be reserved for very special players. Not everyone can be the Great One or Peppermint Fatty.

Agreed, they just happen. You can't force it. If LCB was good enough for Leach, Clarke and Barber, HBL is good enough for them.

^^Basically every hockey line nickname ever.

That has listed what I like best for the Briere line... *The Redemption Line*

Fitting and has a good sound to it.

I agree I do not like the *Two and a Half Men* or *Tastykake Kids* and will not use it myself.

The DVS line is passable.

Yeah I would be pretty disappointed if Two and a Half Men or Tastykake Kids were chosen. DVS is clever, but I say until something awesome is suggested, just stick with HBL.

I think it would have a pretty nice ring to it as part of a JJ goal call.

Just leave it as the HBL line. Richards is cannon. Not because we made it up, but because of some awful grammar by a poster lol.

I pretty much like the 'two and a half men'...makes me laugh and I'm sure Danny would laugh about it to.
If else, HBL is fine.

Seconded. I've been at bars with non-hockey fans that begin watching the game, witness a goal and start laughing at "scores for a case of Tastykakes." Tell me I'm not alone in this.

I just really don't want a corny line name for the next five seasons.

DVS, HBL, Redemption, all are good.

Two and a Half Men and Tasteykake Kids (which are the TWO LEFT on Broadstreethockey) will be put in Jim Jackson's ear for your announcing pleasure, are horrible picks and not in the spirit of the Flyers.

This is what happens when the team's good and we've got nothing to ***** about

Just stick with HBL, contrived names are stupid, the last 2 standing in particular are stupid...and who says the "half" is Briere?
