The All Purpose Brad Richards Thread

Thought it would be more convenient to keep all BRich discussions in one place. Use this thread to discuss:

*Where you think Richards will end up

*What kind of contract you think Richards will garner

*What the value of Brad Richards is

*All proposals involving Brad Richards

Yeah, this'll be the all purpose Richards thread for a week, if you're lucky.

It's simple, anyway. Either he re-signs with the Stars, or he signs with the Rangers.

all purpose threads are stupid, would rather have 3 separate threads about 3 specific things than one thread with 3 separate things all jumbled in them and difficult to read

This isn't a bad idea.

Of course, that's what I'll say when you bring this back up when the deadline nears, and we still don't get any news of him staying in Dallas.

Resigns in Dallas, 5-7 years, $6.8 to $7.2 million a season.

Tampa or Dallas... Here's hoping to the former!

How about Smith, Ritola, Purcell, and a 4th for Richards and Raycroft.. seems about right from 2008. Please? We miss him here in Tampa.. He's our anyway, we were robbed by some asshat cowboy owners who wanted to run the team before they even owned it.

No way he takes 4 years unless it's ridiculous money. He wants security.

If he doesn't resign in Dallas...

Toronto/NY/Calgary/Buffalo. Most likely NY.

Eklund says that Gillis is interested... so naturally he'll be going to any of 29 teams that aren't the Canucks.

I could see LA being a big bidder for him in the off-season.

If he doesnt resign in Dallas by the time July 1st rolls around. If SFY wants him, he WILL be in TB. And he will probably take some sort of decent discount to make it happen.

So yeah. Tampa or Dallas.

(Marty) St. Louis sends him a text asking if he's willing to move to the wing.

Why in the blue moon would gillis be interested, Eklund is reaching crazy territory.

That being said, can you imagine our top 4 centers.

Kesler
RIchards
Malholtra

You're right, sorry, it's late and I'm stupid.

Either way, Marty St. Louis texted him and said on national tv that he'd play wing so.... I'm sure he would if L.A. asked him.

That being said, I could definitely see him heading back to TBL.

It'd be sick if it happened.

Downie - Stamkos - St. Louis
Richards - Lecavalier - Malone

That is a ridiculous top 6. And considering St. Louis is on a sweet heart contract, Downie is cheap and Stamkos is on an ELC, a pretty nice bargain.

Stamkos wont be on ELC next season. And dont forget Gagne might even come back. TB has a lot of cap room even with Stammers raise and planning for the future and making an improvement or two on the roster.

Obviously both Richards and Gagne would need to take discounts for them both to be in TB but they both have reasons to do so.

Will be interesting thats for sure.

Coulda sworn that ELC was next year, but yea, regardless, plenty of room as you say. As for Gagne.. well, there's no way he'd be taking up as much cap room as he does now. He could make a great 3rd line scoring threat for the right price, though, and work his way back up if he still has that level of play in him. Ah, what can I say. I was already a secondary TB fan BEFORE Stevie came over (grew up in Florida). I'd love to see Brad back where he belongs.

I was just about to shoot you down till I noticed Eriksson in the deal. That is quite a few assets coming out of LA, no way the Kings trade 5+ first rounders, and there is no way Dallas would make that deal because it doesn't address enough needs for their team today and it is an abundance of one position. Just a headache of a deal. Too many complications and either one of them could regret it being in the same division. Just not possible
