I think he re-signs for about 6.5-7M for 4-6 years.

I couldn't see Dallas trading two very much proven All-Star caliber players for a group of unknowns. On top of that, I couldn't see Lombardi resting his job on a trade that would define his tenure. This simply wouldn't never happen during the season, and wouldn't happen in the off-season.

The Rangers will overpay him like Gomez and Drury and Redden to get him, and then Richards will suck, causing the Rangers to either move him to the minors or Trade him..
Dallas will resign him or Tampa.. Cause if he signs with Tampa it's gonna be like 04' again.. St.Louis, Lecavlier, Richards and now you have Purcell, Stamkos, and Hedman..

Richards will always be welcomed back in a Bolts uniform.

The new ownership's slogan last year was "Bring it back". Who knew they'd actually mean it literally.

St. Louis, Lecavalier, Kubina, Richards..

brad richards is going to toronto. It's obvious. They need him, he wants to go there, it's destiny. Just look at how Kovalchuk ended up in LA.

Who is this Richardson person?

Dallas isn't trading Eriksson and I don't see LA giving up that many assets for a soon to UFA Richards.

My question for the people saying he will stay in Dallas:

Will he wait until July 1st to gauge the market or will he sign an extension before then?

Is there anyone who has any info on the Dallas situation...obviously Dallas would love to keep him, but has there financial standing changed so much as to be willing to sign him to fair market value?

The indication seems to be that the creditors have given Nieuwendyk the freedom to negotiate with Richards, and judging by the term and dollars given to Daley and the deal for Langenbrunner, they've probably given him the budget to get the move done.

It seems that the Richards wants to stay in Dallas, but his camp is a little leery about moving forward without knowing the potential owner because of the way the situation changed when he was in Tampa. If that was done or there was some indication of the timeline, it'd likely get done sooner.

Lately, I understand neither side is talking about the deal publicly, saying they don't want it to be a distraction for the team. I wouldn't be surprised if negotiating is going on.

If this deal went through and Richards walked away from the Kings I would still like the deal just cause Eriksson is really the main piece involved from my perspective.

Hopefully it would be the Devils but that has no chance our top 6 would be scary.

Parise-Zajac-Zubrus
Kovalchuk-Richards-Tedenby

Anyway more realistically I think he will either stay at Dallas for 5 years for a deal more than 35 mil or go to NYR for 6+year deal.

I think he stays put. Caphit around 7. I'd actually see that contract as being BACKLOADED. Partial NMC.

Getting AT LEAST to the 2nd round make actually means the signing would be easier.

Wouldn't Kesler play 3rd line in that situation?

Anyways, if he goes to Tampa and they don't resign Gagne, what happens if Hedman has a breakout season?

We sign him. Were not hurting as far as cap space goes. We can sign him for a nice long term deal if he wants it. Were not hurting in the least as far as money goes.

Lecavalier for Richards?

I can see him signing in Buffalo or unfortunately the Rangers. He's not going to Toronto, he wants to win now.

I think he'll sign in Dallas or Tampa. Whenever I think of Brad Richards, I think Tampa, so it would be nice if they were re-united. I see Toronto making a big push, but will come up just short.

I'd love this as a Sabres fan, but why the heck would Brad Richards sign with us?
