also, there was no pierre this morning, he was in the air.
All I could find was Pierre's wife is named Melanie, while Scotty Bowman has five children (Alicia, David, Stanley, Robert and Nancy)

No what I'm saying is Howard is not much different than Elliott.

There is quite a difference between goalies like Elliott/Howard and Vokoun.

No, we just want a guy who is capable of playing a #1 role. Other than Hasek, it's something we have never had in this franchise.

It's the most important position in the game, and we need one who is capable of being a starter on another team.

This seems uncalled for. Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today?

I disagree there. Guys like Tugnutt and Lalime don't get enough love around here. Lalime choked in game 7 and automatically people forget all that he did before that

I think Stanley goes by the nickname of "Melanie"

Amen to that.

I'm still bitter with Pierre's reflex assertion that Alfie purposely shot the puck at Niedermayer in the SCF. For all his talk on The Team 1200 glossing the Sens locally, to his about-face on US or TSN broadcasts, he's shown me that he's only in it for Pierre. I'd be very disappointed if he was ever hired by the Sens in any capacity.

He would have been scooped up by now if he was really GM material.

To me, he will always be the "Cliff Clavin" of NHL commentators.

So you're mad at him for being honest? Alfie did shoot it at Niedermayer on purpose.

My only beef with Pierre is that he is too much of a brown noser...

The guy that should be taking over the team is Fenton. Not sure what else you would need to prove if you were him. Nill is another guy but he's obviously not leaving Detroit. People have probably had this convo already, though.

PM, meh, w/e, if he ever got a GM job he deserves it. I don't think people should just write him off totally but I can see and understand why people doubt him or that anyone would hire him.

he's on right now i thought it was very interesting the strategy Pierre suggested for the Senators

if Ottawa were to get a lottery draft pick and it is used right. they should put an offer sheet for Zack Parise because they must build around Spezza...
i think it is fair... what do you guys think

Dumb. Devils will match any offer and if they don't, I figure we would have to offer 7 million+ which would cost us 4 first round picks. A really dumb move for a team that should be rebuilding.

well he didn't suggest giving away the 4 firsts. i don't think it would take that much to pry him away. they mentioned that Parise was unhappy and that the Kovalchuk money will contunue to haunt them

I've been saying this for a while. Parise will not cost 4 first rounders. It's a good idea especially since this years draft is so deep. I think we should do it.

It will cost 4 first round picks if we sign him to an offer sheet of 7 million+ per and that is the kind of money he will be making on his next deal.

Of course, everybody would but the Devils can match that easily. Only way to get this done would be to offer him Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin money and we all know what's the consequence of doing that.

It could work to sign Parise to an offer sheet if we load up picks and prospects at the deadline and that would mean guys like Fisher,Michalek,Gonchar shipped out of town along with the UFA's. If we draft and develop well in 2011, we could survive without a couple of firsts , a 2nd and a 3rd

the devils have 14 players signed and projected 9 million left in cap space. can they afford to sign Parise at 5.2 the maximum that will cost us a 1,2 and 3 round picks

I think they match whatever and figure something out afterwards (trade, etc.)

I would be tempted to do something like that if we we're 1 or 2 players away from contending. We're more like 12 players away from contending so there's no point to pull off something like this.

Probably, most other teams could afford it as well.

Spezza, Parise, Karlsson, Cowen, Rundblad, Michalek, Foligno, 2011 1st...Silverberg, Butler.

A team with that shouldn't have a problem moving forward and comfortably making the playoffs...certainly if a starting G was added. Is Spezza going to remain healthy?
