Deserving. He's been very good for the Lightning this year as a grinder.

Wonder how many Islander fans will be in here saying how much he sucks? He's been greatly improved and a perfect fit with Boucher, even earned the name "Textbook" because he understands the system so well.

Last year he was called the worst regular NHL player by a few people, now I'd say he was up there with the Purcell trade as Lawton's best move.

From a free waiver pickup to a fantastic 4th liner this year and maybe next year bumped to 3rd line.

Guy is all out hustle every shift.

Love this guy, I was sad to see Konopka go but Thompson has been awesome this year.

Probably not one Islander fan because we could care less about Nate Thompson or Tampa Bay.....

Excellent

Great work here. He's blossomed in the Bolts system. Every team needs players like him. Kudos to Nate for working hard and playing well to get this extension.

Search Nate Thompson. Find me one thread that DOES NOT have that video linked in it.

Youll see exactly what its old and worn out.

Thanks.

I wasn't upset when Thompson was waived, but I would have liked him to stay. He was a pretty good grinder who was always willing to fight on Long Island, but just couldn't pick up any offense for his life. He seems to be racking up some goals in Tampa though. Good for him.

But we have Konopka now so it's even

Its understandable, but they put him with a few good coaches and work with him (and his work ethic is through the roof) so some of the rewards are starting to seep in, like him with 17 points and a new contract. Good for him.

It's kind of funny how many former Islanders we have that never did anything there but have been great contributors here. Roloson maybe the exception.

i'm still unhappy the bruins didn't hang onto him a few years ago, and went with stephane yelle instead. great guy thommer - he gets it, busts his ass, and is a tremendous team guy. nice to see him rewarded.

No, the oilers pretty much locked up the worst 3 or 4 players.

We had to be best at something.
