It makes sense for me after reading Mike Augello's blog, from hockey buzz.
But what possible return could the Leafs get?

I think it would make sense, but i think the flyers would prefer Tomas Vokoun. If they were not able to land him then they might turn to Jiggy. Not sure what they would have to give Toronto but i doubt it would be to much. Could be very interesting to see how he does in Philly. If he doesn't do well in Philly he may have a hard time finding a job in the offseason.
I wouldn't mind going after Hartnell, but will take more than Giguere.

I don't think Philly is interested in trading any of their current top-6 forwards. They're trying to win now, and upgrade their forward group apparently, not downgrade.
If there was a deal between Toronto and Philly, I could see it being something minor. Maybe Giguere for a pick at the deadline, or Versteeg to Philly for ???.
Cap space will be an issue with the Flyers re: goalie upgrade (Vokoun, Jiggy) but I can see them go after Freddy Sjostrom to re-unite with Betts on the PK. Wouldn't take much and is very cheap.

I think that sounds about right, a 3rd rounder seems more than fair, unless the Leafs do something similar to Lagenbrunner deal and put conditions on the pick moving to second depending on rounds won and games played by Giguere.
Philly has to send some sort of salary back to us... and it definitely won't be one of their core guys they're relying on to produce in the postseason.
I'd be happy with a small deal that expires at the end of this season and a good prospect.
Young players that will definitely make the NHL in 1-2 years and play a top 6 role is all Toronto is looking for at this point.

Only extra salary we have left to shed is Boucher and Shelley and maybe Zherdev
maxium a 4th rounder and a salary dump. IF they are interested in giggy. But I dont think he's really an upgrade to what they have already. More like a very expensive backup.
Boucher and Bobrovsky are each better than Giguere. This is stupid.
That is laughable, especially the Boucher part.
Perhaps the Flyers don't want to go in to their best cup-run chance in recent history with a goalie that's been pretty good at times while often not at all tested, and let in quite many questionable goals in comparison to the amount of quality scoring chances he's faced?
Yes, I know you guys went to the finals with Leighton and Boucher, but with a real goalie, you'd probably won.
