Vokoun is available?

edit: doubt the Flyers move a roster player also. 3rd rd pick tops.

between shelley and zherdev, which of these guys has a deal that expirers this summer? we'll take him and a forward prospect that is still a year or so away

I'd be happy with a small deal that expires at the end of this season and a good prospect.

Young players that will definitely make the NHL in 1-2 years and play a top 6 role is all Toronto is looking for at this point.

If Burke calls around and discovers that Giguere is the only goalie on the market, I'd play hardball and ask for JVR. I doubt they would do it unless they REALLY had doubts about their goaltending tandem but you'll never get what you want if you don't ask.
Funniest post of the year.

"I'd play hardball....I doubt they'd do it." I almost cried laughing.

We arent trading any of our important roster players. Ican maybe seeing Zherdev/Walker or Boucher, but even then I say HELL NO to Giggy. PASSSSSSS.

Riding the Bob train.

We have no reason to believe Giguere can return to 2003 or 2007 form. He's been far less of a goalie since his father's death and has shown zero sign of recovery.

Florida is going to lock up Vokoun. He's the only thing getting them any points at this time.

Leafs could get more than a 3rd round pick out of Washington, and Washington would consider it a fair deal considering they're preventing one of their main Cup competitors from solidifying their goaltending for the playoffs.

Why would anyone want Giguere, have you seen him play lately? Do you have a fork to stick in him?

Having watched almost all of the Leaf games this year, this what I'm thinking.. He's been awful, he's a downgrade over what you already have.

Boucher ($1.1M) would be the salary going back plus maybe Walker since Orr looks punch drunk and a 3rd/4th rounder.

Boucher would be a good mentor for Reimer as he has been for Bob.

I think the Flyers will ride Bob so they need to decide who is best to get them through 1 or 2 series if Bob starts to feel the pressure of a long playoff run. JS would fit the bill since the playoffs have very few back to back games.

Didn't Belfour's career get one last push when he went back to a contender?

Carcillo, a prospect like Wellwood or Legein, and whatever salary Philly wants to dump.

Boucher 925k
Giguere 6 million

Giguere is definitely better than Boucher, but at what cost? I really dont think we can fit the cap hit anyway without losing a core player

I don't think the cost would be too high so if he proves himself healthy over the next month he could be a decent insurance grab. For a franchise that has had so many goalie issues over the last bunch of years I think it would be a good move.

To grab a goalie who has been struggling? How would that be a good move, other then "grabbing a vet"? He has been terrible the past few years. There is 0 belief that he will all of a sudden turn it around.

I could see Burke taking a 3rd-5th + Zherdev and turning him around to another playoff team like he did with Skoula last year.

Why....this team would be worse for trading someone for him. Giggy has decreased in all areas in the game over the last 3 years. No thanks.

Giguere does suck. I really don't see why Philly would want him, other than the fact that hockey seems to be permeated by an ethos of 'the veteran presence' being necessary and desirably. Maybe they want him as insurance and for in the locker room? No idea.

Philly has some good offense though. Maybe they can score their way out of the 4 goals Giggy gives up every game.

The gig is up! No way the Flyers go this route. If they want a goaltender he will not come from Toronto.
