Ilya Bryzgalov to The Flyers

Sooo much debate re: Boucher + BOB as a tandem in the Playoffs. Bryzgalov would be GREAT in Orange and Black....and would be a significant upgrade for the Flyers. Not only that, his 4.25mil cap could fit nicely! Yes Phoenix needs playoff revenue but with the ownership turmoil (sale)...and his being UFA and a possible future affordability issue ....this could work for both sides.

What would Phoenix look for in return?

Too much most likely. I would guess PHX asks for a young player with high potential (i.e., Giroux, JVR) which the Flyers won't give up. I don't think Zherdev + Carle would get it done. Especially while the Coyotes are competing for a playoff spot. The only thing I could see the Flyers/Yotes dealing for is a depth forward for the Flyers (i.e., someone like Upshall or Fiddler)

I dont know that the Flyers hang up at JVR....we put ourselves in great shape for the Cup....and we have a good shot at re-signing him.

PHX wont move Bryz, the Flyers won't move the necessary cap to be able to acquire Bryz.

it would be boucher(his salary would clear enough cap) and non roster assets from philly but i dont see pheonix dealing bryz for mid level prospects

Phoenix has no reason to give up one of their best players. Philly doesn't want to part ways with a roster player, especially one that it would take to land Bryzgalov. Nor do they probably want to clear the amount of cap space it would take to land him.

No dice.

Phoenix isn't trading Bryz, nor should they. Sadly. I'd love Bryz in Orange and Black.

Sure they do as what exactly have they won while he has been there? They could lose him for nothing. Yeah no reason to give him up. I would strongly consider moving JVR + boucher. Expand the package for turris !

The Coyotes need to make the playoffs and be reasonably successful in them more than any other team in the NHL. Trading Bryzgalov would leave that immensely important task in the hands of Jason LaBarbera.

You figure out the rest.

If I'm the Flyers, and if Breezer agrees to re-sign in Philly, I'd give up JVR for him. IMO, the one thing keeping the Flyers from a Stanley Cup is a true, proven #1 ace experienced goaltender. Bobrovsky, Boucher, Leighton, Biron and Emery are not that.

But then again, I'm not the Flyers - not even a Flyers fan... so....

What is your point exactly? Maybe short term as it really doesnt matter finishing 10 or 14

They're in the playoffs and they have a better chance than most to re-sign Bryzgalov in the Summer.

Why would they even be thinking of finishing 10th or 14th when they are only 6 points back of the #3 seed in the conference and currently are in 6th? Some common sense would be nice on these boards once in awhile.

They're in tough in the ultra competitive West, but they are holding their own. Without Bryz, they drop from competing for the #3 seed to barely staying ahead of Columbus.

as of today yes they are in the playoffs. Come the deadline what if they are on the outside looking in? A team could clearly make them an offer that might they like a lot. If they get there the chances they win it all are not good. again what have they won with him? i dont believe they have a better chance than most. At some point players, at least i hope, want to win. Does phoenix give him that chance? not imo.

They're a playoff team...

And while we're at it, why the Caps haven't traded AO yet?
I mean... he's there since longer than Bryz has been with the 'Yotes, and they won only one more QF than the 'Yotes did.

Who said that was what they are thinking? of course they are not thinking that. However common sense tells you they are only 4 poitns from being 12th place. I agree some common sense once in a while would be refreshing.

I guess for a team like phoenix playoff revenue is more important

I want Bryz. A lot.

That said, I highly doubt Phoenix moves him. He's going to be in their long term plans.

I'd definitely offer our first.

Bryzgalov would be ideal.

i remember hearing on the devils - coyotes broadcast a few months ago that bryz wanted to stay in phoenix, he was just waiting for the ownership situation to work itself out

I've already stated that I want Bryzgalov a lot, but if that was really the required price, I'd have to say no. The Flyers really are not in a great position to overpay, especially not one of their best defensive/offensive centers.
