We can move Martinez, maybe that's why he's up here, to up his value. Voynov is deserving of a call up, how about Penner for Martinez, Teubert & a pick

Then VV can grab A-Mart's spot

I like that proposal way better. EDM gets a guy that is a roster player; can move the puck, play responsible defensive. Also they get a Prospect with front of the net clearing potential. Teubert can turn into a twenty plus minute eater. Throw in a pick done deal.

Plenty of puck movers down in AHL playing well to replace A mart. Muzzin would most likely be recalled.

This is a tough one.

As much as i like Penners game and i really would love him here in L.A.
i wouldn't give up too much for him.

It's not Penners game it's Terry Murray who would turn him into a 15 goal forward instantly.
And i'm not willing to part with Forbort for a 15 goal guy.
Get rid of Murray and bring in a real hockey coach and i'm all for that trade.

Right now i would offer Hickey + something or one of our young NHL ready defender not named Voynov.

If we're talking Penner & Forbort, it should look like.....

To LAK: Penner & 2nd round pick in 2011

To EDM: Forbort

Of course, I'm not averse to helping Edmonton build up their D prospects, so long as their 1st rounder is in the mix.....

To LAK: Penner & 1st round pick in 2011 (likely a top-3 pick), 3rd round pick in 2012

To EDM: Forbort, Teubert, & Hickey
We are not going to trade our 1st round pick. That is like you guys being in the bottom 3 and people trying to trade it away. Hickey does not interest, and Tuebert does but not for a 1st.

How about:
Schenn, Forbort, Tuebert 1st for our 1st

I kept Schenn out of the deal because I know how high your team is on him and he is a foward which you are not as deep in. But Forbort would have to come back the other way for Penner or it is a no go so I guess we can't get a deal done. If you want a 26+ goal scorer you are going to have to give something up and that is not going to be Hickey.

No way. The best we are going to do for Penner is Hickey/Martinez and a 2nd/3rd round pick. After that it gets into players that the Kings are better off keeping over the long haul.

You are not going to get a first and a top prospect for Penner. Take that to the bank.

How about you get out of here. Schenn is the most valuable piece in the proposal and you want us to give up Forbort, Teubert and a first on top of it? There is hockey outside of canada.

Strong words coming from a fan of a team that was out of the playoff race on day 1.

According to you, the Kings won't make the playoffs unless they trade for Penner. Got it.

Forbort for Penner?

Every day of the week and twice on Sunday, I don't think a GM in the league doesn't make that deal if offered, and I doubt any GM OFFERS that deal.

Everyone seems to forget, Forbort is not a guarantee, he hasn't proven anything, he hasn't done anything, is there upside, yes, is there risk, absolutely,

So people would rather keep a prospect with risk, than acquire a qualified/defined need,

Really?

I guess I can see it if we didn't have, Martinez, Voynov, Teubert, Hickey, Muzzin, etc, but cmon guys, give your heads a shake.

You just don't do that.
please don't compare eberle to DD or Kop. Your talkin 2 different levels here.

Yeah well, the OP wanted Forbort, Toffoli AND our 1st for Penner ... might as well toss in Schenn too since he's not a guarantee, hasn't proven anything, hasn't done anything yet at an NHL level.

I still don't do it. You need your prospects to be layered. They can't all be ready at the same time.

Then you are out of your mind,

You have a defined need, if EDM offers you Penner for Forbort, you jump on that if you have defined Penner as someone who fills that need.

Layering prospects, that's why you have a 1st in the 2011 draft, you simply replace Forbort there if you want layered, or you move Muzzin for a younger version or you draft another one etc,

Seriously, the reason you are passing on a defined need is because you want your prospects layered? Think about that for a moment....

and when Penner leaves in 110 games (and he will) then the Kings will have nothing to show for the trade...I'm glad you aren't the GM!!!

Just like Kovalchuk left NJ etc?

BTW, with your crystal ball, please tell me why Penner would leave?

Because Muzzin, Voynov and our other more seasoned prospects are going to turn 30 in 2 years?

Trading Forbort for what we need now (Penner) is ok by me. That is a good hockey trade. Give the Oilers what they need (build for the future) while giving us a solid player in his prime that fills a need.
