Jarkko Ruutu to Carolina

there's some rumours that are starting to swirl about potentially seeing a trade that would send Jarkko Ruutu to Carolina to play with his brother Tuomo. Does Carolina need a guy like Jarkko for their playoff push. What kind of deal could we see?

I don't see this happening, at least not straight up. Isn't Tuomo having a good season for Carolina?

It's to play with him, not a trade for him.

Ha, just noticed, mis-read. In that case, then Jarko could probably help most teams bottom 6.

Hurricanes dont need a player like Jarkko.....I am not sure how much he is making this year, or what his contract status is, but I dont see this happening unless there is an injury and it is only for a very late round pick.

Of course it'll all depend on what Carolina would have to give up to get Jarkko, but I don't see working with Carolina. They've got too many bottom 6 guys. To the point where some of them are playing in the top 6.

A 4th rounder he is still a little pest and can pk plus chip in the odd ugly goal.

What would it take to get Oscar Osala out of Carolina. He's a prospect i'd love for Ottawa to acquire in a deal.

He was pretty decent for clutch goals when he was in Van. A 4th seems a little low for what else he can offer, outside of the pesting.

I actually like Ruutu on the Sens. He's solid defensively, gritty and can chip in the odd goal. He can take stupid penalties based on reputation but more often, the times i've watched, he draws penalties. I think a 3rd or a decent forward prospect could be realistic value since he's UFA.

I actually wouldn't be against this. If Ottawa wants a 4th in return, I'd do it.

and where are these "rumors" coming from?

Unless the Canes are trading Samsonov, it causes further numbers issues up front. Jarkko would solidify the 4th line with Carter and Bodie into an effective set of forecheckers, but this team isn't putting a player in the press box right now so someone would have to be sent down or traded elsewhere to make space.

I don't think Osala is going anywhere. He's having a good year in Charlotte, and Carolina has 6 UFA forwards after the season. There will be a few spots open for Boychuk, Dalpe, Bowman, Osala, Samson, and possibly others to fight for.

J.Ruutu <--> Samsonov?

Quite honestly, I'd love to see Ruutu-brothers playing together.

I have no desire to see this POS on our team. Send elsewhere.
