Interesting Blurb Regarding Ticket Prices

From todays New York Times:

"The Devils' average ticket price of $68.08, up 24.5 percent from last season, is the most expensive in the National Hockey League, according to the industry publication Team Marketing Report. The Devils are followed by Detroit at $57.11, Philadelphia at $57.06 and Toronto at $56.90. The Islanders were ranked sixth with an average price of $53.14 up a league high of 38.3 percent from last season. The Rangers did not raise their ticket prices and were ranked No. 12 at $44.58. The leagues average ticket price is $44.22 up 3.3 percent from last seaon."

The Devils tickets, on the average, are $24.50 higher than the league average? No wonder they don't draw.

holy cow, not only that but the games are boring as well :p

the rangers haven't raised ticket prices for 6 years cause they keep missing the playoffs, but don't worry if they make the playoffs this year we'll be hit with 7 years worth of price increases all at once

Ticket prices were last raised in the summer of 1999, after the UFA signing spree.

400 level seats went from $22.50 to $25
300 level seats went from $35 to $40
The rest of the seating went up $10 from the previous price, except the "VIP" seating (wherever that is) went from $675 to $700.
