I've not seen Glennie play but Reilly is having an amazing season on a Redhawks team that's had its fair share of struggles. His 19 goals lead the CCHA, which is great as a sophomore. He's tied for third in the league in points. He plays on Miami's first line with 2 seniors who are both Hobey Baker candidates.

I guess the question with college player is always can their bodies handle the 82 game NHL schedule. Reilly needs to work on his size but he's only 19 still. I think he can put on some more bulk. IMO, he has all of the other skills.

seems to me that even the hobey baker winners don't do much at the nhl level, so i'm gonna wait to be excited about a college prospect.

It's pretty crazy when you consider that the Stars haven't successfully developed a prospect out of college since Dan Ellis.

..... and Dan Ellis has his problems. It's tough making a living as a pro hockey goalie.

As was pointed out in the prospects thread, there's a decent possibility that Reilly turns pro after this year. If so this thread will be much more interesting a year or two from now with these guys having spent time on the same farm team rather than comparing across different levels of competition.

It is even crazier that they continue to take so many of them

True or not, the fact that someone would suggest this...is that a knock on Glennie or a nod to Smith?

Definitely not right now. Maybe in two years if Smith's stock continues to rise and Glennie's stays about the same.
