I don't see why NJ would trade Parise.

Awful. Absolutely terrible. I hope this post was a joke.

It would definitely take a top Offensive prospect in return which the Wild don't have. The best that could be done is Parise+2nd/3rd for Burns+Granlund but i don't know if thats even reasonable. Wild would be screwed D wise but Parise-Koivu-Bouchard would be dirty.

Brent Burns and a conditional 1st if he signs an extension (which he'll have to)

Pretty fair

Why just why?

Because we would have another local guy?

Anyways, I can't see it happening.

I guess its just me...but why would a team with cap troubles want a return focused on a defensemen (Burns) who is going to get a big raise with his next contract?

Doesn't that put NJ in the same position if they resign Parise? Where they have little cap room?

No because after next season we have 14m or so coming off the books then another 6m from elias alone the following year.

That said as much as I like Burns... minny would have to add.

Despite the fact that everything Parise has said indicates that he does want to stay for a few more years at least.

It's just speculation, nothing more. I really don't know why people are getting pissed over a rumor board filled with posters who have less contacts than Eklund.

It's a "sexy" topic for all 29 teams cause they can land a stud player, nothing more.

Lou has a standing policy not to negotiate contracts during the season. Parise has stated many times that he is willing to start negotiations whenever. He's not the hold up. And it's only February 1. Several more months to go before I'll get worried he might be holding out.

I think Lou will make this his priority as soon as the regular season is over, and Parise will be re-signed to a reasonable contract well before July 1.

because Lou doesnt negotiate in season. he still has FIVE MONTHS to sign him. its not like july 1st is tomorrow

like Trottier said, its funny how much of a wet dream you have for the thought of Parise leaving so he wont crush your beloved Rangers year in and year out.

If they go to arbitration it's not going to be pretty. He should at LEAST get what Semin got right?

I have no guilt over wanting Zach Parise to sign with the NY Rangers. He'd be PERFECT for the current Rangers team and if it plays out to free agency he comes on the market just when Drurys contract expires, and Brodeur could be retiring, moving on... who knows. Things change.

Yea it's a bit of a fantasy, but not out of question.

Lou never says much about these things, but if he can't sign him he 'should' move him for a return of assets and I do think he would prefer to send him out West and maybe concede to throw Zach a parting bone and at least explore the return from Minnesota

I don't believe Lou would let it get to arbitration, so it's probably a moot point. Parise will not get a one year contract from the Devils. Either he will sign a three or four year (or longer) deal, or he will be traded. My guess is he re-signs for something around $6.5-7 M per. I don't believe for a second that Parise intends to hold out for a one year deal, regardless of that unreliable CKAC rumour.

Lou has said plenty about this. He has said there is no player in the league he respects more than Parise. He also said he will try to re-sign him. Parise has said he wants to re-sign, and is open to start negotiations whenever. I just don't see where people are getting the "Parise wants out" rumours from. Nothing either of them have said indicates that to be true.

Its all speculation based on the fact they gave Kovy a deal they can't also extend to their best player. Their homegrown wonderkind.

Lou has resigned a total of ONE of his players during the season. When Marty dropped his agent and took the paycut.

We can afford to pay Zach 6.66 a season if he wants it. But sure keep on with those wet dreams.

Zach will terrorize the NYR for years to come.

Actually we can. Quite easily, in fact. Lots of salary coming off the cap in the next two years.

Why not just draft him in 03 knowing what his dad did to the Rangers. Would have been better than the Specimen.

They can give him an even better contract than Kovy actually.
