I have only seen Griffin Reinhart play once and therefore can't comment on his play or potential but I have only read/heard great things about this kid. The Oilers organization obviously likes what he brings seen as the Oil Kings drafted him in 2009. Currently, he looks to be a top-10 (maybe top-5) pick in 2012.
There is no other team in the league that has the access and opportunity that the Oilers have regarding evaluation and scouting. Also, with the ability to directly oversee and control his development and the obvious need Reinhart would fill on the Oilers, do you think management will do everything they can to be able to draft him in the 2012 draft?
If the Oilers are that bad AGAIN, then it's something to definitely consider. However, I have expectations that the Oilers will not be in a lottery position for the 2012 draft.
May not need a lottery pick to get Reinhart. He suffered a broken wrist recently. He'll be gone for the rest of the regular season and well into the WHL playoffs/Memorial Cup (The Oil Kings aren't gonna get that far anyways). He'll also probably miss alot of the summer tourny's like the Ivan Hlinka. This will probably cause him to fall in the early 2012 rankings, but he'll climb his way back up.
He's a solid junior already in his rookie season on the Oil Kings blueline and is just scratching the surface of his potential. He'd be a great great addition to the Oilers blueline. I could see the Oilers with a Top-10 pick in 2012 (8 - 10 range lets say), and that may be enough to snag him. The crop of blueliners in 2012 is very strong and very deep. 2012 is going to be the draft year of the defensemen.
A little fanboy dream is to draft RNH, have the Oil Kings trade for him w/o giving up St. Croix (which we also draft in the 2nd/3rd) or Reinhart. We then draft Reinhart in 2012. Watching the Oil Kings would be tremendous for any of us here on HFOil.
I think most of us would be pretty disillusioned if the Oilers are once again in the bottom 3 next season. However, could you see Oilers management trying to acquire a pick in order to select him? Creating some sort of package involving picks, prospects, and roster players to move up and pick him (say 5th overall).

I have watched him many times this year, and he is by far a better dman than Pysyk is already and will be A NHL defenseman without a doubt barring a bad Injury his poise for his age is very Impressive has a decent shot and outlets the puck very well. would love to see him in Oil silks
I'd love to get Reinhart in next year's draft, but not if it means having to go through the kind of year we'd have to have to be in a position to take him.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If we're anywhere near that position in the draft in 2012, everyone from Kevin Lowe to Joey Moss needs to be fired (cept Stu).
The holes that kill this team are far easier to remedy then the typical high end skill concerns. Just bring in a couple capable defenseman and a couple PK forwards. Maybe a PP coach. Should be easy for a team with a ton of cap space.
as long as are d is shabby at the best of times and we have khabi playing like he is now were gonna be in a similar position, and if we are in line to take him it would be a good thing in the long run, painfull though but good...could you imagine larrson, plante, petry, peckham, and Reinhart...might be one of the best d's in a few years.....one can hope
