This should be a good game, Anaheim will come out strong after the loss last night and hopefully the defense and Vokoun can weather the storm. I predict both goalies will have a strong game, but Anaheim will come out on top 2-1.

Preds 2, Ducks 0, end of the second

goals by Johansson, Eaton

Brookbank gets in THREE fights, Walker has one as well.

Tootoo looks sharp out there in front of those that made the journey from northwestern Canada to come see him play.

Vokoun has played a terrific game, and the Preds D has looked good all around. Hamhuis having a good game.

Sykora has had a few great chances, and looks to be the best player on the ice for the Ducks

just for reference
Martin Gerber is in net for the Ducks and Alexei Smirnov is a healthy scratch, being replaced by Mikael Holmqvist (playing his first NHL game)
Also Todd Simpson was ejected in the first period for not having his sweater tied down during a fight

Where's Mike Leclerc? If he's injured he should be on the injured list there.

Hey Duck fans are you as surprised as I am that Fedorov is on a line with Niedermayer and Krog? I thought Fedorov would be with more skilled players like Prospal and/or Sykora.

3-1 preds, niedermayer scores on a bad play by timonen....legwand takes a perfect pass from johansson to go up 3-1. sykora still looking like the best player on the ice for the ducks.

Legwand starts the season with a goal and an assist.

Consider me overly glowing on this kid. Put me down for saying Legwand gets at least 65 points this year.

Actually, the Legwand goal was a WONDEFUL feed by Zidlicky on the PP. Timonen found Zids on the left face off dot who immediately found Legwand on the opposite dot for the empty net goal.

Legwand had a beauty of a no looker one timed by AJ for the goal in the 2nd.

By the end of the game it looked like they'd switched things up. I don't think Babcock has settled on any lines yet.

Niedermayer actually seems to be a decent fit, but they definitely should put someone more productive than Krog at the other wing spot. Not that Krog has been stinking it up or anything, he's actually made some nice plays, but he's just not at that level to take advantage of what Fedorov creates.

Babcock had the Niedermayer-Fedorov-Chistov line out there at the end and that line was creating.

Sykora was out there some with Fedorov also.. Sykora was snakebit at the beginning of last season and I thought he was over it.. now he's snakebit x2. He had about 5 quality scoring chances tonight.

When did you guys get Broodbank anyway? I thought he was a minor Sens prospect, well minor, the dude is like 6'6.. waiver draft I assume?

Anyway, the Stars will probably dress Aaron Downey vs the Preds saterday.

waiver draft. he's filling in for mckenzie right now, playing 4-6 minutes a night, whenever a heavy is on the ice. i expect that once allison and mckenzie are back (1 and 2 weeks, respectively) he'll probably go down to milwaukee.
