The Good: Prust-Boyle, McDonagh

The Bad: Aside from the nice pass he made to Step in the 1st I thought Zucca was pretty bad; he was turning the puck over left and right. Gilroy had a rough night as well.

The Redden: Our PP. Seriously if you have the game recorded rewind and watch our last PP in the third again - the amount of boneheaded plays made is mind-boggling.

We're all the Redden...when we're winning we're prime Redden and when we're losing we're...well...THE Redden.

prust was POTG for my pick
MAF played well actually. Maybe hes gotten better than lundy

The PP was bad as usual, and losing games like this one sucks, but considering the rangers are a team that doesn't really have a surplus of bonafide talent, they've done well thus far

if kreider can become a 30g guy, than the rags are ok, but if not, they'll be plagued with scoring woes until they're able to sign Teows

The powerplay is a momentum killer. I'm not sure if making a trade for a PMD is worth it, but they could certainly use one.

The defense, sans Sauer and at times McD, was horrendous tonight. Girardi was probably our worst defenseman, which is saying a lot because I think MDZ and Gilroy were pretty bad as well.

Once again, Gaborik's presence was barely felt. The Prust line was mediocre other than that goal early in the first. On a positive note, Cally and Dubinsky looked good after coming back from injury, they didn't miss a beat.

It's been awhile since this team has played a full, 60-minute effort. There are no excuses for tonight's performance against a depleted Penguins team.

Player of the Game
Brandon Prust - balls of steel; he's still wondering when Cooke is going to fight him.

The Good
Wojtek Wolski - hard forechecking game; cycled well down low.
Michael Sauer - another solid effort.
Having Dubinsky, Callahan, and Girardi back.

The Bad
Marian Gaborik - oh where hast thou gone, sweet prince?
Chris Drury - wasn't bad enough to get The Redden; earns a bump to The Bad.
The Powerplay - still horribly ineffective; the need for good puck movement and creation of shooting lanes is a top priority.

The Redden
Michael Del Zotto - sorry kid, I love ya, but you killed us tonight, specifically on Rupp's goal; needlessly forechecking in the offensive zone, creating blown coverage in the defensive zone.

I honestly don't think it was THAT bad, but it looks like i'm the only who thinks so. We dominated them in the 3rd and a lot of the 2nd.

We let two fluky goals get scored (not Hank's fault), and the only problem was we should've scored one more goal.

Or MZA and W2 shouldn't have used wimpy shots instead of their monster dekes.

Also, what the **** Zuccarello? Why change the move all of a sudden, and do something boneheaded like THAT, when you're 4-4? That basically cost us the shootout.

Gonna get overlooked because of the loss but Sauer was great tonight. He was an absolute monster in overtime.

Had to switch it up eventually, the move gets around the league and goalies catch on. He had him beat five hole too, just didn't shoot it hard enough.

Its really hard to complain about the shootout, not only when we are 5-2 in it, but when our performance in it is really completely unrelated to the product that we put on the ice. No shootouts in the playoffs.

No Malkin, Letestu or Crosby and they lost Asham and Staal during the game as well. C'mon, this was a piss poor showing. The guys should be kicking themselves...

That shootout was incedibly bad too.

I thought Prust should not have fought, but had a good game besides that.

Although people like them to be their whipping boys, Drury, Gabby, and MDZ all played good tonight.

I thought Lundy looked allright, shouldn't have let in that second one.

We really need to work on the PP, and it was just an unlucky SO, Zucca's should have slipped through.

Player of the Game: Anisimov

The Good: Prust (hard pick between him and Ani for POTG), having some troopers back

The Bad: Not beating the Pens

The Drury: I was going to say Drury, but come to think of it.. I'm not sure he even was in the game. Thinking more about it... he actually ripped off a pretty good slapper at some point. Maybe he did have one **** after all, or I'm just delusional.

It was great seeing Dubi and Cally back, but those two guys seriously need to learn how to shoot and finish properly. They are both great players, but I hate seeing them either shoot wide or in the goalies chest. And Cally's open net miss is inexcusable.

Where is Gaborik??!!

No effort, no heart, no fire, no urgency, no pride...nothing.

Gaborik needs to be scratched a game or two to send a message.

I'm not going to bother updating articles until tomorrow. I don't think I can stomach reading through ~50 articles about how we blew tonight.

If we won in the shootout I'd wager a lot of people would be singing a different song. Bad loss, average effort, all we can do is hope they start playing for real and we stay in the playoff picture.

Bah, so we lose a point and feel bad about it. Big deal, it's not like it's the end of the world. Our top players are returning snd we still got many matches to play.

Dweling in the past won't change a thing, so lets look forward too the match against the Devils instead.

I mentioned it in the GDT, Sauer was excellent tonight. One of the few positive things to come out of this game. He's been steady and reliable for a few weeks now. If Girardi continues to struggle or is still hurting, I'd have no problem if Sauer played with Staal again for a few games.

It's great that they're forechecking and all that jazz, whatever - end result is our team unable to procure the one goal that would have ended the OT or won the game in regulation. Of course people are going to look at the two highest paid players on the team, one of whom is our alleged "bonafide sniper." I love Gabby, but he needs to start utilizing his shot more instead of making that one extra move that leads to the inevitable turnover. </frustrated poster>

POTG: Prust

Good: some Cally, some Dubi

Bad: Gilroy struggled, PP was mostly horrific, however I will say that towards the last half of the 5min, MDZ started to look like he was finding his PP game

Redden: shootout fail, giving maf waaay too much respect
