Flames say hell no, not with the position they're in, and even if they weren't 4 points away from 5th in the West they'd still probably say no - trading Tanguay and Regehr as individual pieces would net them more than this package deal.

Tanguay and Regehr are the best players in the package, yet the Flames give up the conditional? I wouldn't trade Regehr alone for that.

I don't see any reason for the Flames to make this trade at all.

Neutral view: Brutal for the Flames.

I don't see the Flames making any major roster moves while they're still in the playoff race.

That said, I think it would be huge if they could add Connolly to their line up - just not at the cost of Tanguay and Glencross.

**** that **** so hard.

Tanguay>Connolly (at least to the Flames, purely off the chemistry he has with Iggy)
Glencross>/=Stafford
Regehr>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Rivet

And we're giving up a pick? If Feaster does that I will organize the lynch mob myself.

Buffalo wins, but Stafford for Regehr is a fair trade

Ya no way the flames do this. They could get a lot better return for tanguay and reggy if they wanted to deal'm, plus being in the playoff hunt why in the world would they deal Tanguay?

Is Calgary trying to make it into the playoffs or the lottery? This definitely pushes them tomorrow the latter.

I know Buffalo rips off Calgary in this trade, but come on, Glencross is miles behind Stafford.

Yes. Yes indeed.

Glencross puts up 15-20 goals a season playing in our bottom six. Stafford hasn't been able to do that playing in Buffalo's TOP six (yet). We'll keep Glencross thanks. Stafford would be our third line RW anyways.

To the Flames, Glencross has more value. Stafford would be behind Iggy and Bourque on the depth chart, putting him on the 3rd line.

And since when does a second line winger get you a top pairing shut down defenseman Kassian?

According to the article,
Buffalo adds a pick and the Flames pick is conditional.

As a Sabres fan I would definitley be interested but Flames fans wouldn't be.

No, not "indeed".

Glencross averages ~15 minutes a game. Stafford averages 15:51. Yeah, big difference. He's a 3rd liner who can chip in. solid player, but not much more. Stafford has a much better skillset, and is showing it this season.

I wish Eklund got more than 2 rumours right per year....it would make reading his daily rumours so much more exciting than sitting in class right now.

Oh well, he mentioned Cogliano to Tor or LA in the article as well, so I guess Cogs will probably retire an Oiler

We'll agree to disagree. Half of a good season for Stafford doesn't have me forgetting his inconsistencies and lazy play from last year. I remember full well when most Buffalo fans were willing to see him traded.

Agree here.
The Sabres will most likely re-sign Stafford for his last season as an RFA to a 1 year deal again.

Connolly and Montador will fetch 2nd round picks (the going rate for help of their skill sets come deadline time), 31st to 44th pick, nothing above the 44th will get either of these guys and Montador may have the outside chance of fetching a very late 1st rounder (27th to 30th overall) given his performance not only this season, but since he has been with the Sabres.

20 goals 2 years ago...
14 last year
15 so far this year in 31 games.

Yeah, hasn't been able to "do that yet".

Glencross puts up 15-20 goals a season? He has put up 15 goals once (exactly 15 once and on pace for 15-20 this year) and has never hit 20 goals. Stafford has hit 15+ goals twice, 20 goals once, and already has 15 goals this year. Not to mention Stafford is 3 years younger and their TOI over the last few seasons is pretty close to even, and Stafford has played more than his fair share in the bottom 6.

We can agree on this.

But all in all, I agree this trade severely favors Buffalo.
