Seems to me like he would be, or at least he has been in the past -- which is more than you can say of some of the Oilers' forwards that were kept ahead of him. Which is why I question the move, though it was pointed out to me that the Oilers may be trying to make space for next year so contract term (Stortini has one year left) may be an issue.
Oh, I see where the miscommunication was. No, Jacques is not a "good player". But he is about equal in ability to Stortini, I hope that next season, our current 4th line are all gone, our new 4th line is MacIntyre-Cogliano-Jones (unless we can get a Blair Betts type guy on the fourth line), and our third line is actually a third line, rather than a borderline fourth line like this year.

This will bite us.
You didn't mention that in addition to him being a below average fighter, he is a below average skater, has below average hands and hockey IQ, and above average intensity. Intensity alone isn't good enough.

Ya know what I can't figure out.......why a slug and a borderline ahl, not nhl player, like this guy warrants 5 flippin' pages of discussion? Can't skate, can't shoot, has no intellengence what so ever about the game, can't fight....what is it the guy can do?? Oh except get a 5 page response to Edm. finally sending the guy away where he belongs.

This makes me happy. As much as I don't like his game for the NHL, I love his game for the AHL.

He was only a NHL regular because Edmonton didn't have anyone better, not because he was actually worthy of that role.

He was a terrible agitator, and a running punchline (pun intended) for every other team in the league. You look at the really good 4th line players, and the really good agitators and they can actually play the game and their 4 to 6 minutes a game is productive.

Stortini doesn't bring that to the game.

I would doubt that we will see Huggy back in the NHL. He's just not good enough to be there.

Edmonton fans should be happy with this move, it indicates that they have better talent for that role.

No thanks, I'm sure we could find another punching bag somewhere else with a better skill set.

This could be good for him. Give him sometime to work on the simple aspects of the game.

If Stortini doesn't get claimed, he'll do really well in the AHL and be back. Jacques doesn't have what it takes IMO. He has gotten too many chances.

He hasn't been claimed and I doubt he'll be back. Although Jacques may not be much better if he is at all, there are still other options for next year. Stortini is likely done in NHL. He's an RFA next year and I wouldn't be surprised if the Oilers don't qualify him.

I think it depends on how he plays in OKC. If he does ok, he might get a 2-way offer.

He'll get a 2-way somewhere, it's just a matter of him working on his game and sticking in the NHL instead of going to the AHL.
