Czerkawski

I know it's only one game, but Czerkawski was the Islanders best player tonight. He played physical, back checked and scored. Something I've never seen do in one game in my life. If this is any indication of how he will play this season we should expect a lot from him.

I was thinking the same thing. I thought that was one of the best games Czerk has played. He was buzzing all over the place, back checking, and creating a lot of opportunities. I think one of the most encouraging things was that created a lot of chances for Yashin and Kvasha -- even in his 35 goal days Czerk seemed to dipsy-doodle by himself more than he'd set up his linemates, but last night he created several good opportunities for his linemates.

Boy, what a resounding @ss-kicking we received. Ugh. I had flashbacks to the start of last year when Ozzy and Snow would have us buried by the ten-minute mark. At least DiPietro looked solid. This team desperately, desperately needs to have faith in its goaltender, because we just pack it in when we go down a goal if we don't believe our puckstopper is going to keep us in it. Well, it's just one game.

It's too bad we were on the receiving end, but, despite our loss, it's nice to see Jaromir Jagr playing so well and with such passsion -- he is probably the most skilled guy in the game but has seemed so disinterested since leaving Pitt, the game truly misses his artistry.
