I agree that he has the hockey IQ and his 2 way play could help him. I just don't know if he has good enough skating and stamina to be out there as a center for 18-20 minutes a night.

Like I said it could be an interesting idea. Lindy could try it out for a few shifts then change lines like he always does.

What would your lineup look like with Poms at center. Would you shift Hecht back to wing?
I'd keep Hecht at center too.

Nathan Gerbe -- Jason Pominville -- Drew Stafford
Tyler Ennis -- Jochen Hecht -- Thomas Vanek
Rob Niedermayer -- Paul Byron -- Patrick Kaleta
Cody McCormick -- Paul Gaustad -- Mike Grier

IF he wants to come back to Buffalo (which, with new ownership, I think he'd be open too) and Buffalo can give them something that would give them some value and a smaller contract coming back (maybe Hecht?) there could be a deal to be made.
He'll be 34 at the start of next season... he has a full No Movement Clause... why would he waive to go ANYWHERE ? He's on a contender...

The only way Briere waives is if at 35-36 he gets demoted to the minors to stash his cap hit if his abilities deteriorate.

That would work and would possibly lead to Nieds watching from upstairs.

Sadly I think with the return of Connolly, Byron will probably be assigned to Portland.

No he won't. He was already in Portland. They called him back up today.
