asking price is a 1st and a top prospect...

counter offers will be a 3rd and a low-level prospect...

and his fair value, where they'll settle on, is a 2nd and a mid-level prospect.

A 30yr with declining production, who's on pace for just 35 pts this year, with 2 more years left (after this season) on a $4.2mill cap hit, isn't going to return a 1st and a top prospect.

This. While I'm sure asking for a "1st + top prospect" will incite the trolls on this board, it's obviously a case where they're not overly interested in moving him, which is fine. It's looking like they are going to have a very young team next year, a veteran guy like Fisher (even if he is declining) would be a valuable asset to them -- similar to Shawn Horcoff in Edmonton. Ottawa doesn't really have any good ways to spend money in the offseason anyways.

Fisher would be a tough sell to any playoff team because of his contract for the next couple years...nevermind worth losing a 1st+... so it's a pretty decent bet Fisher remains in Ottawa.

Wow! No way he fetches a 1st. I'd think someone like Hemsky and/or Penner would have a better chance... but even then...

Antropov is actually really good defensively also. He's a better player than Fisher.

I didnt think he would get moved and this pretty much confirms this,So if this is what he is asking for him imagine what he wants for spezza.

It's just the asking price. It'll probably end up being a 2nd + low-mid level prospect.

Good for antro fans and management like fisher so why move him unless we get an overpayment .This should calm down the trade rumors on him

I wouldn't touch him with a 60ft pole, then.

I would give up maybe a 2nd and a mid-tier prospect.

So Murray is saying unless a team overpays, they are keeping him.

If Ottawa is able to get a team to do that, I really hope the Panthers trade Weiss.

Weiss > Fisher.

i think its because he is aware he will be negotiated lower...my as well start at 1st +prospect, so if people start calling, he can drop down to say a 2nd rounder and a mid level prospect.

lol wow just looked.

career high 53 pts...

$4.2M? Wow! Loui Eriksson has the same cap hit for the next 6 years. How did Fisher get that contract to begin with?

EDIT: i.e. Is he that important to the Sens, or did he just show a lot of promise at the time?

1st + top prospect, LOL, depending on the prospect that's equal to or more than what guys like Kovalchuk and Hossa got at the deadline. More like 2nd + mediocre prospect, *MAYBE* 1st + crap prospect. Obviously Murray is just starting high, expecting to be haggled down from there.

Maybe if there was a GM out there who was a huge Carrie Underwood fan.
