Are you kidding? Try taking a punch to the forehead compared to a punch on the nose or the jaw.

Where a shot hit DEFINITELY has bearing on how much pain it inflicts.

That's not the issue. The issue is did he embellish, the answer is absolutely, anyone who has watched hockey long enough can see it.

Dive. We got the best of it, no matter how much some like to whine that the league hates us and/or loves the Pens.

My proof is that not a single poster would have thought it wasn't a dive if the uniforms were reversed.

That completely depends on who's on the receiving end... Matt Cooke? Yes.... Mike Rupp or Jordan Staal? I wouldn't be so quick to rush to judgement...

Come on. The uniform colors the perception of the overwhelming amount of fans who watch a game.

Majority yes... Every fan? No... What fun is it to talk in majorities though? The majority of the U.S. population still thinks Obama is Muslim

Funny that I google the incident and find a quote from Prust that confirms exactly what I just informed you:

Quote:
Prust admitted he was dazed by the punch.

"He just caught me on my sweet spot and kind of dropped me for a second," Prust said. "He kind of rung my bell."

Prust didn't play for the rest of the second period, but he returned in the third.

"They checked me out. I'm good," he said. "I think it was just all reaction. I came in and hit a guy, he kind of came in to stick up for him. He just threw a punch and happened to connect."

I think the punishment fit the crime. Time to move on.

As for the head shots: The league was patting itself on the back a year ago. Many Pens fans were complaining about the lack of acknowledgment from Uncle Gary and the league a month ago. I don't get where you see pulpit pounding from him where he basically ignored it. Twice.

If you are equating Jordan's jab to the chin with a "Head Shot" then I don't what to say to you.
A match penalty does carry an automatic suspension. The league reserves the right to deem the major penalty enough punishment after reviewing the play. When the guy gets the 1 game suspension, you will hear the league say that they will let the punishment stand and not add anything to it after review.

The league was showing videos of altered behavior and stats on concussions at the first gm's meetings this season. Bettman added a rule midseason to address head shots, and at the last gm's meeting he said that we aren't doing enough. Those are two cases of pulpit pounding, I don't know how you think he ignored it.

Where is your chin? On your elbow? On your armpit? Your ass? Typical pen-fan rhetoric and semantics.

I'm surprised they didn't throw Prust out of the game for diving and award Staal a goal - or at least a penalty shot.

How easily people forget how Malkin clearly instigated a fight with Zetterberg in game 4 of the 2009 SCF, and never got the automatic one game suspension that comes with it.

This league is a joke. Bettman has such a hard-on for Cindy and the Penguins and Ovechkin and the Caps and it's such a joke. Stop the Gretzky treatment for teams that don't deserve it.

Too many double standards that teams like the Penguins and Capitals get away with.

Orpik's dirtbag hit on Avery goes unpenalized, yet the NHL says they want to start cracking down on shots to the head. Orpik's not a 1st time offender, remember when Erik Cole was a good player? Yeah, I do, and then Brooks Orpik put an end to that.

I am convinced that Prust got knocked off by the punch. He, however, wasn't knocked out. Whatever he did being on all four was acting.
IMO, regardless, one game automatic suspension should have been kept simply because the refs did the right thing and recinding would send a message that they overreacted.

Agreed.

In my opinion there was some embellishment too (not a full on dive, but some embellishment).

That's interesting, ya see to me it sends the message that not every case is the same and we should think about not being so written rule oriented and just try use better judgment cause the written rule does not take everything that happened in the altercation into consideration.

IMO, every rule has a certain amount of wiggle room

Yeah, the way he goes down was just too Avery-esque for me to buy into. Since Aves has been here I've been really good at spotting it

Aves does flop, but he also falls down on his own quite often.

Just a good acting job by Prust.

That wasn't suspension worthy IMO.

Don't agree at all... Look at his post game quotes... Said he was dazed and got his bell rung from being hit in just the right spot... Think he was still trying to sell the play after the game talking to the media?

Remember the scene in the first Naked Gun movie where Frank Drebin stands in front of the fireworks factory when all the fireworks are exploding and he says to the few people standing in front of him ;

"All right people....move it along...Nothing to see here..."

THIS is THAT scene....
