What exactly is Martinez's upside? I still think a deal is to be made between the 2 clubs, I'm just curious who some players might be coming back from LA. Martinez has already been in the NHL, so development wise, that puts him ahead of Hickey, but from what I understand, Hickey is supposed to have the higher upside.

And no, I don't think there is any chance Brown is coming back to Edmonton. That makes no sense from LA's point of view. I don't think we have the pieces to land Schenn either.

Damn, I was hoping since this thread has been so active that we'd have some rumors. Instead it's discussion best left to the AHL thread and complaints that we have too many good dmen.

You guys have to remember.

It is pointless for us to do anything besides ADD to the roster. Moving Brown to get Penner does absolutely nothing for us.

We want to add Penner for picks, prospects, or borderline roster players.

I know it means bumping guys like Richardson or Lewis from the line-up...although they are playing well, they really aren't contributing anything offensively, and that is what we need.

After watching the ease with which the Kings knocked Penner off the puck last night, I don't think he is the answer.

This is all a joke really, look at the standings, we are not even in the playoffs. You think Lombardi is going to give the bank up for one of these guys and then we miss the playoffs. No way.

you realize we are 3 pts out of 4th in the conference right?

so if a great player becomes available we should just look the other way?

1) Which "great" player would ever become available? Parise's out for another while and I still don't believe the Devils would trade him, he means a lot to that organization.

2) IF a "great" player were to be traded here, do you think he'll produce instantly? Clearly not, it'll take time for him to get going and get adapted to a new system and create chemistry with new players.

I just don't think we can afford to move roster players or whatever right now if we want to keep making this playoffs push, unless we're talking about Bernier or someone irrelevant to the lineup. Simmonds can't go or Stoll, or whoever else that plays on a nightly basis

depends on the player. allison scored from the get go. deadmarsh did as well. just seems like you are just used to the strums and williams trade and think that is the norm. Both of your points as well are speculations. You don't know who is or will be available. I am just tired of the doom and gloom from this thread, we are 3 points out of 4th and have not lost regulation in 4. If we go back to they way we started this season who knows how far we can go.

Oh and as far as great players that are probably available i would say Booth or Vanek. and either one we should go after. I think they would produce right off the bat with Kopi.

I don't think DL would have any interest in Vanek.

Booth maybe. But the concussion problems make him a big risk.

I don't like Penner at all. Huge body but plays small, doesn't seem to be interested in getting dirty.

Obviously being in Leaf land I get to see my share of games and Kulemin (LW 6'1", 225) has stuck out to me. Nice player, has good hands, decent speed and apparently is popular with his teamates. He could be a decent target along with possibly Beauchemin. I'm not a big supporter of his but maybe going back to the West Coast can revitalize his game.

I'm sure Burke wouldn't mind Moller as part of a package in return among others.

Radek Martinek (NYI) would provide good depth at the back end. Don't let the fact he plays on the Island fool you. he is a pretty decent defensemen. At worst, he could do a solid job as a bottom pairing guy.

What about adding a guy like Arnott who has Stanley Cup experience? I'm sure that would help out come playoff time. The question would be if he is willing to move his NMC.

I know most Kings fans are looking for the big acquisition but I don't see anything wrong with acquiring the players mentioned.

Why do you think DL would have no interest in Vanek?
I think the next week or so will tell if the Buf are buyers or sellers.

It's back open and all the OT posts have been removed. Be mindful of the topic being discussed. If you want to talk about something else unrelated to the topic, find a more appropriate existing thread or start a new thread.

Apologies to all who had their posts removed. We let this go on hoping it would resolve itself, it didn't - instead it snowballed and required a lot of clean up.

Back to topic. Thanks.

From the trade board....

http://www.truehockey.com/articles/W...Talk-Extension

Quote:
Williams may have priced himself out with Kings GM Dean Lombardi. Word is the former 30 goal scorer is looking for a contract that will play him in the $4.5 per year range, similar to what Nashville forward Martin Erat is earning. Erat is one of several players Williams is using as a comparable as the two have very similar numbers.

Both sides have exchanged offers but it’s safe to say Lombardi isn’t willing meet his salary request. It goes without saying Los Angeles would like to hang onto Williams but the salary structure will need to work.
I say pay him $4.5m for 3 years and call it a day.

Williams extension, sound like he wants 4.5....... Id like to keep him but that may be steep.
