That was sort of a 20 minute infomercial for why Fistric is so critical to this team's success. Without him in the lineup it seems as though Grossman feels the need to fill that physical void and he starts running around and getting off his strong positional game. It doesn't help that his partner totally lost his mind, either. Then of course there's the collateral damage that ensues from either Niskanen or Woywitka having to play...
Nah, the overhead showed pretty clear non-penalty GI (though not particularly serious). Wheeler bumped Lehtonen in the crease and made no effort to avoid him just prior to the shot. Being backed in is not an excuse to bump into the goalie - you must at least make an effort to avoid him if he's in his crease.
It's immaterial where they were when the goal was scored because it's a part of the same play where Wheeler bumped Lehtonen in the crease.
The rule is fairly inconsistently applied, but it is indeed the rule.
Nice rush by Burish to push the tempo, dishes to Skrastins who scores. He's probably the one guy who's actually absorbed what the coaching staff wants the D to do as far as stepping up into the play at advantageous times. And he'll be gone next year.
