*shudder*

I'd rather leave Souray in the minors.

If anything, its Slats and company seeing if he can handle the NHL, so he can tell Tambellini that he will take him on re-entry waivers.

Don't they have one in the minors already?

Yeah we'll take Drury for our baseball team.

I wouldn't complain if it was for something like Eminger or Prust, prospects or picks for Sheldon.

Ranger's mainly need offense, Souray can provide that on the backend.

In lieu of Drury,
Redden + compensation
for
Souray + deadwood...

I'd like to believe that but I can't.

Lets hope its for the Con. Whale. Would love to have him play with Redden, forming a devastating 13 million dollar AHL first pairing.

Edmonton has to put him on re-entry waivers if they want to move him where he can be claimed by anyone for half salary correct?

Honestly deal. Drury's contract runs out before July 2012, so he could be paid 10 million for all I care and I'd still take that trade.

Edmonton doesn't end up taking on a ton in way of more salary (cap hit doesn't matter) ~3 mil. but gets another centre who can play the 3rd line role with out looking like a retard... Plus they get out of the drama that has been Souray.

i think he can be dealt as a minor leaguer, but then the Rangers woud have to subject him to re-entry before he can join them... which would be a horrible management decision...

with Souray in the AHL he has to clear re-etry waivers to play in the NHL again this season... and it doesn't make sense for any team to expose him but Edmonton

---------------------

that said...

to Rangers:
D - Souray

to Oilers:
D - Redden
1st in 2011
3rd in 2012

yes Redden's contract is that bad compared to Souray's... especially since it runs 2 years longer...

however landing McCabe makes more sense IMO as he is a pending UFA

Article indicates that Souray would have to clear re-entry waivers in order to play during the regular season. Would a team with higher waiver priority like say Columbus take a flyer on Souray at half-price (2.7 mil cap hit, 2.25 real salary)?

The Oilers are better off leaving him in the AHL. Trade him in the off-season if we can, if not let him finish his last year off in the AHL.

I have to guess somebody would take a chance on Souray at half the price

Not claiming to be sure but that sounds right.
Again, why I said to be sure of some kind of deal, do something at full price w/Souray + Redden, then of course add deadwood + compensation, respectively. With almost yet another year off that miserable contract, it's a bit more palatable and likely compared to a year ago.

Does Edmonton really just want to dump Souray, pay half his freight, and get nothing?
This way, yeah, they pick up a reduced financial albatross in Redden, but they get compensation going the other way for that, and no partials on Souray...

Sure NYR would like to offer you something to make that worth your while, not sure what reasonable overpayment (not Kreider, etc.) would still be enough to make that happen, not off the top of my head...

As an alternate backup, anyone look at something like Avery + X for Souray + Y ?

if it was any reporter but spec I might believe it

spec is either on Souray's payroll or just likes kissing Souray's rump.

There are multiple problems with getting souray to the NYR this year

Spec is just hell bent at keeping Souray's name in the papers
