Our Goalie Situation

We signed Martin today and was loaned to bridgeport which would lead me to believe Koskinen is going to get called up to back-up Poulin. That duo being so young and in Koskinen's raw and not ready prob won't be the best situation. I would assume Snow probably got back on the phone with Nabokov trying to convince him to report, If that fails and Nabokov stands firm, do you think Snow should make a trade for a goalie? I know Vokoun is apparently being shopped, only problem he is a UFA, which I am little weary of, but they are also said to be open to dealing Booth or Weiss, so question is do you think Snow should kill two birds with one stone and acquire goaltending help and a guy who can score? For me I would offer a package centered around Bailey for Vokoun and Weiss. Thoughts?

That is the simplest and least costly fix. I'd be all for it.

agree....Stevie Y could throw us a bone for giving him a goalie and helping his team become complete for a stanley cup run

Agree on getting Smith. We need someone with some experience to stop the bleeding or atleast go 50/50 with Poulin.

Martin was already in Bridgeport on a PTO. Look for Martin to be recalled to back up Poulin.

So Vokoun can leave in the offseason?

Agreed. Koskinen is showing he's not ready for the AHL yet.

Having said that, Martin can't be the six week solution. Depending on Ray Emery's asking price and the interest he receives from other teams, he might be a fit but I doubt it. I don't see him signing with the Isles unless nobody else is interested. And I don't see the Isles offering him a dime more than they have to.

Servicable back up/third string goalies are a dime a dozen. Somewhere out there a Yann Danis or Joey MacDonald will be acquired.

Or hey maybe Garth will strap them on for a month or so.

Garth will have to make a move very quickly.
Smith or someone from Europe with a contract out.
I do not want to give up more than a 5th round pick for a band aid goalie but we do need to protect Poulin.
Worst case scenario is an ECHL unsigned goalie.
In 6 weeks we went from too many goalies to not enough.

Don't think there's any reason to trade for a goalie. Someone can be scoured on the market.

And don't think for a second that Smith is in good condition. There's a reason no-one picked him up off waivers. He's not been doing well, in general, since some injury problems last season.

Buyers beware!

Snow will bring in someone. Wouldn't even mind Ray Emery to conclude the season.

If Smith comes back on recall I could see it. Vokun, if traded is going to a contender for a tangible asset. Koskinen is up, I guess no other move will be made for a while.

if we give up anything remotely descent for a goalie, i would be pissed. We are done this season so there is no point. Let Poulin play and let him get some experience. He has done farely well up to this point.
