Hope you're right. Sometimes I feel like Trotzy reads our message board and creates a lineup just to make us crazy.

Spaling-Smithson-Erat
Dumont-Legwand-Ward
Kostitsyn-Goc-Belak
Wilson-Mueller-Ward

Suter-Sulzer
Weber-O'Brien
Franson-Klein

...and call up Pickard for the coup-de-grace.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Im guessing this means Spaling is going to be on a seperate line from smithson.

Maybe Ward/Smithson/Dumont?

Sully/Spaling/Halischuk?

doesnt make much sense to me... would have expected Sully/Mueller/Dumont with Hals back down
Yeah, I have to agree.

I would have expected Meuller to stay with Sullivan moving to the opposite wing of Dumont. Made sense to do that for lots of reasons: eased Sullivan back in via fourth line minutes, re-pairs him with Dumont, and adds a little more offensive bite to that fourth line.

Not sure what this says tonight.

I don't think Trotz and really demote Kostitsyn or Hornqvist. I don't think he'll demote Erat. He certainly could demote Wilson- especially given the couple of defensive gaffs he's had. I wouldn't agree with that move and think Sullivan commits even more gaffs not to mention turnovers.

Now, could we see a Halishuk-Smithson-Ward line and a Dumont-Spaling-Sullivan line? That's the better option to me instead of messing with the top two lines.

We'll see.

I've been having this discussion on Twitter. It surprised me too that Sully comes back and Mueller goes down. Really thought Halischuk would be demoted, but we move on. I predict...

Wilson - Legwand - Hornqvist
Kostitsyn - Goc - Erat
Ward - Smithson - Dumont
Sullivan - Spaling - Halischuk

Spaling and Halischuk were 2/3rd's of the best line in junior hockey during their final year in Kitchner. Hopefully with a vet like Sully, they find some magic.

Sully is playing his way back. He's not going to play big ES minutes. He will make up for it on the PP, but don't expect him to play anymore than 14 minutes tonight...

That's a pretty good lineup prediction. To add to that, during the course of the game I could see Trotz swapping Sullivan and Wilson to try and give the offense a boot. Other than that, looks good, and we finally have some forwards back. Big sigh of relief, maybe we can win some games now without Rinne dominating.

against the wings we break up our "checking" line? How bout Sully and Dumont centered by Spaling and Halischuck taking Nick's spot on the checking line? Just can't see JP with Ward centered by Smitty - that's got triple face-palm written all over it!

Or it could be that Trotz splits up all the lines tonight and goes for his balanced defensive approach. One each of Smitty, Spaling, Halischuk and Ward on each line and everyone else is put into a hat and pulled out at random.

You know, I could understand that if defense were a problem.

It's not, so you don't kill your already struggling offensive chances to do that. Not saying that a change like that couldn't work as we've all seen it work several times. Does make it tougher though.

I realize that but sometimes Trotz does some strange things like this to get the guys back to the basics.

Sullivan actually played a nice game tonight. Not as rusty as I expected.

And I spoke to some on Twitter about keeping up Halischuk over Mueller...I can definitely toot my own horn on that one. Hali was all over the place, an animal on the puck. Mueller has been largely invisible after a nice start...I think you have to keep 24 up, move Spaling back to center, and send 53 down.

Glad Trotz agrees
