Toronto - NYR

To Toronto:
Evgeny Grachev
Conditional 4th Round Pick (2nd if they reach conference finals/1st if Kaberle re-signs)

To New York:
Tomas Kaberle
Fredrik Sjostrom

Should work JUST under the cap.

Thoughts?

Done. Great deal for the Rangers if they can get Kaberle/Sjostrom and stay under the salary cap.

Do eet.

But you'd be getting a 4th most likely, because signing Kaberle means no Richards.

Don't worry, we'll get Richards before you do .

Anyway, I have a constant feeling that Kaberle won't re-sign and I'm pretty sure Leafs Management has made it clear that they wont re-sign Sjostrom with the signing of Brown long-term and Brent/Boyce playing well as 3rd/4th liners and PKers.

Sure, the Rangers would take that deal. The Leafs lose out on this one, IMO. Trading Kaberle is not a priority, not unless Burke doesn't intend to bring him back. And even if he is to trade him, I think the Leafs can get a better prospect in return.

Grachev isn't really tearing up the AHL. I remember when he was once an untouchable, and asking him in a trade was bringing the wrath of Rangers fans. Funny what two years can do.

Why do you want Grachev? Every Rangers proposal has him involved, there is a good reason.

Actually, I won't even trade Beauchemin for Grachev. He may be a good prospect, but he hasn't been showing improvement since being in the AHL. Beauchemin is a proven top 4 defenseman, signed to a solid market-value contract.

He's a slow starter, he starts the season off cold, and then gets hot.

What is the obession amongst Leafs fans making proposals horribly lobsided towards other teams?

I understand not wanting to "get attacked" for being a leafs homer or whatever, but when you fail to make a proposal that's even good for your team, you just look like a fool.

Grachev is the kind of player who might have value around the leauge, however if he does, it's not to Toronto. They've got quite a few AHL LWers.

Kaberle at this point would return a second and solid prospect, unless teams get into a bidding war. But Kaberle can veto anything he does not like so time will tell

Grachev's first year in the AHL was at age 19. The Rangers have said they should have kept him in juniors one more year. He still put up 28 points, which isn't bad for a 19 year old rookie on a bad team.

This year, he started off very slow, but he's been playing much better the last month. He's on pace to surpass last year's totals and he's got 14 points (9g 5a) in his last 14 games.

I wouldn't trade Grachev for Beauchemin or Kaberle. You guys can keep them both, at least until Kaberle signs somewhere else this summer.

Grachev would be sick with a player like grabovski feeding him those passes that open up space for him much like he has done for mac he isnt suited for 3rd 4th line roles hes not very physical but has amazing skillset i watched him in the ohl rip it up i know its 2 differant leagues but with players like crabb in our top6 id give ANYONE a chance

As a leafs fan i would take this deal if the conditional was a second rounder and it became a first if kabs resigns. if it becomes a fourth rounder we get screwed.

The Rangers aren't trading a first round pick unless it's part of a package to get a first line center or an elite offensive talent who is, at the oldest, 30-31.

Yep, and that reason is the majority of the people offering him in a trade have no idea what they're talking about.
