Not really, unlike Sami Vatanen, he didn't get a week off after the WJC and he's looked tired in recent games. Not to mention that Jokerit have played 3 games a week for some time now. He (and Joonas Donskoi probably too) needs the rest now.

I don't they measured the speed but they had a little competition before the outdoor game where they saw how far the slapper went before hitting the ground and Pulkkinen won hands down

Its not just the speed of the Holy Slapper, its the accuracy. It seems hes really good at shot placement which with a slapshot is just as important as speed.

That is something else- reminds me of Brett Hull. You gotta think that shot alone gives him a decent chance of making the NHL in a couple years.

This. If he doesn't have that kind of edge to others he would just be a mediocore prospect.

Pulkkinen had two assists today, bringing his total to 30. This equals Finnish league rookie record. Five games still left.

Not bad for a late 4th round pick. Detroit should be able to give him another 3 years to develop. He's bulked up a bit but still needs to work on his strength, skating, and defense

Pulkkinen is tied for 5th now in SM-Liiga for points with 49. I believe he also passed Teemu Selanne's rookie record for assists in a season

Yes he made a new record for passes by rookie. But previous record holder wasn´t Selänne, but Pekka Peltola (43+30=58).

Peltola and Selänne are the top rookies with 58 points, so Pulkkinen has some work to do if he want´s to get that record too. He is 9 points behind and has 4 games left.

Pulkkinen 51. 17+32=49
Selänne 42. 33+25=58
Peltola 43. 28+30=58

52p (17g+35a) in 53 gp now.

Does this kid have the tools to make an impact in the NHL one day?

Obviously, he just needs to keep working on them.

Got a nasty slash from goaltender Mika Noronen in a game today. Hopefully nothing serious.

Pulkkinen slashed Pettinen while falling down (this was not seen here) and that's why Noronen slashed Pulkkinen.

According to unofficial information Pulu got a knee injury and season is over.

Jokerit is bit of trouble if Pulu can't play.

Lolwut, if you get slashed, you don't just slash back harder you give the guy a huge open ice hit.

I'm an HIFK fan, but that was just gutless act by noronen.
