I hate Murray most of the time.

(on a "veteran" goalie for next season): "whether it be a healthy pascal or someone else..."

wtf?

Hopefully he's fired before he signs anymore aging players to ridiculous contracts.

If there is absolutely no one available by trade or UFA, what choices does he have? If he can snare him at league minimum, he may have to.

Signing Leclaire makes no sense. That they are even contemplating it scares the bajesus out of me. I honestly might have to throw myself off a bridge if that were to happen.

I'd rather give Emery a second chance here before re-signing Leclaire and I want to do neither.

I smiled because that means he will go aggressively after Vokoun and Bryzgalov.

He never mentioned them specifically because questions would probably arise about tampering.

Give Leclaire $500 000 - 750 000 contract, if he takes it great, if not no big lost. He could

surprise or chances are he will most likely disappoint everyone greatly but it will only cost us

a very small portion of our cap.

No. His presence in this organization is disastrous. Lehner should be getting time in the minors, but he's going to forced to play against top teams instead.

Pretty much sign elliot as a backup or part of a tandem ,and sign a short term cheap goalie until lehner is ready. We dont need a big name goalie we have one coming in lehner ,why commit the money and term to one on a very young team

Leclaire shouldn't be an option.

What good is he when he can't play?!

He probably isnt, but he sounds as if he is saying .Fans shouldnt hold their breath waiting on a big name goalie be traded for or signed.Which is the right thing to do ,the big fish ufa goalie,s wont want to play with our younger defense in front of them ,so a second tier goalie aquisition sounds about right

Cole's notes for those of us at work without a sound card?

As for Leclaire, the guy obviously can't stay healthy, so what the hell is the point of bringing him back in, even if it is for the league minimum? We're still going to have the same problem bringing up Lehner/Brodeur or whoever the hell else up from the minors when Pascal goes down.

The last two years aren't an anomalie in Leclaire's career, the guy just can't physically handle playing in the NHL.

I'd have no problem trading for a guy with one year left on his deal (assuming we don't give up much) if he can carry the bulk of the load for us next year. Elliott is a competent back-up.

I think the matter is preety simple. If BM won't be able to land a top-tier goalie like Bryzgalov,Vokoun, etc he will probably turn back to Leclaire wanting to prove everybody that he was right when he traded for this guy.
He made it preety clear that a Elliott/Lehner tandem is impossible as he sees Elliott a "quality backup" and Lehner is obviously not a no. 1 goalie in the NHL yet. Lehner will be in the AHL next year for sure.

seems like a statement for other GMs to say that if the asking price is too high then he does have a backup plan (even if it's not a plan B..more like a plan Y)

Hopefully before then...say the day the season ends? Uncle Eug is not going to keep a GM/AGM around for the draft, then fire them before the UFA period begins...

Sometimes there's a bad goalie who you just keep as a backup because he won't complain about playing infrequently and he's there when you need him. Leclaire is neither of those things. It's not even worth having him on the roster for free.

Murray's really starting to lose it. He's speaking in paradoxes.

What good is Leclaire as a back up if it is impossible for him to stay healthy? We are going to have to go out and sign another back up or call someone up anyways, so why not just skip the middle man and not resign Leclaire?

Elliot as a backup? Why? For a guaranteed loss whenever he starts? What if the number 1 gets injured? Thanks but no thanks.

Leclaire as a backup on a 2 way contract is a decent option. Unlike Elliot, skill isn't a problem. A guy that has the skill to be a top 10 goalie in the league is a great option as a backup and making league minimum. Heck, if he has a decent season he could be traded at next year's deadline for something decent. He's far less likely to get injured as a backup. Problem is finding a starter for next season.

The guy got a concussion in practice.
He's too frail to be playing in the NHL. It sucks for him (it really does because he's good enough) but that's the bottom line.

Leclaire won't be back - BM is just not going to dump on him while he is a member of the team
