Subban called to congratulate skating Marathon fundraiser

I heard it this morning during Paul Arcand's show: apparently, PK Subban called a guy who was performing a 48-hours skating marathon fundraiser, of his own initiative, and congratulated him.

The guy was really impressed that Subban would actually just take 2 minutes of his time to call him, all of it without a media circus around the player.

I can't find a link regarding that news, can someone try to locate it?

(If it's confirmed, props to Subban! )

Subban is a good guy, always puts a smile on my face when I read this kind of thing.

He called before an established veteran did, what a lack of respect.

Mike Richards would have visited the guy's home and baked him cookies.

Sad thing is, you won't see this on RDS or TSN.

He couldn't even get off his lazy butt and congratulate the man in person. He gives him a phone call. Typical of a classless individual.

Next week : PK Subban leaps tall buildings in a single bound and helps little old ladies across the street.

Kind of like when the rapper TI recently talked some guy down from a suicide attempt and then like a day later got caught with drugs. He got 11 months in prison for it and begged the judge to be more lenient. Obviously I know the law is the law, I just find it funny how if you're a rich white celebrity you get 15 hours of prison time (lol) but if you're a black rapper you'll get like a year.

Obviously it did get media attention, but it's good to see celebrities and sports people doing stuff like that. Acting like people rather than celebs.

Players like to keep this stuff behind the scenes or it would come off as less genuine.

Pretty much.

I wrote to 98,5 to ask them where they got the information. I hope they get back to me.

It seems it happened during the 48 Heures de patin pour vaincre le cancer du sein. The guy concerned is named Stéphane Thibault.

I'll have to hunt down further...

Mike Richards would have elbowed him in the head and then claimed he was just trying to separate him from the puck.

People, tone down on the "Classeless" act and Richards-bashing.

If it's the only thing you gotta say regarding a heartwarming action, ya better just not post.
