What cap space does San Jose have to offer sheet him?

I highly doubt the Blackhawks will be doing business with the Sharks any time soon.

Niemi, Huskins, Wallin, Eager, Wellwood, Nichol all come off the books. That's $8.5 million.

I might be in the minority, but I'd rather give up Murray than Demers.

Ranking of who not to lose to who to lose
Boyle --> Demers --> Braun --> Vlasic --> Murray.

That's assuming Seabrook even accepts any offer sheets. I wouldn't be surprised if he remains loyal to Chicago and stay paired with Keith.

You don't think Chicago matches at 5.5? They could then just trade Hammer if they had to, which they wouldn't.

San Jose has 12.25mil in cap space next season, with at least 10 players to sign. Granted the salary cap goes up 2-4 million, which also helps Chicago.

Add to that the fact you will have to give Couture a fat contract after next year, San Jose is not offer sheeting anyone like Seabrook in the offseason.

Chicago is better cap wise, than the Sharks, and they are currently about just as good/bad as the Sharks are.

Same problem exists for the Sharks after a trade. They'd need another top four d-man.

The Sharks have the room to offer sheet Seabrook and sign who they need to sign for next season. They'll spend at most another two mil in net. Wallin and Huskins will be easy to replace cheap unless DW does another stupid move in this regard. None of the guys they need to re-sign will need much more, if at all, than what they're making now.

As for Couture's contract status next off-season, that is covered rather easily as well. Niittymaki will be gone and Torrey Mitchell will be up as well. That's a little over 3 mil to put into Couture's second contract which won't be a substantial upgrade. He'd get 3 mil at the most.

They have plenty of room to make the upgrades they want during the off-season and no bad contracts so they can easily move anyone they need to in order to make a big splash.
