http://www.rds.ca/zv2/index.html?video=50313

For those who understand french. Interview with Lebrun, he confirms the rumors.

I understand there is a thread with Boston, but Rangers and Sharks also pursuing so it's a place for them to discuss it as well.

He notes both have NTC which makes it a little harder to move them as they can potentially dictate their destination.

Montreal perhaps is at a favorable advantage for Phillips given the cities proximity to Ottawa?

To be honest, both guys would fit well. Kaberle in place of Weber makes sense -- just wonder who will take Weber's place...

I believe Burke will want his first round pick back from Boston. Giving this, I think Montreal can barely match Boston.

For the record, Lebrun also said that the Nashville Predators and the LA Kings are really interested in Mike Fischer.

Don't doubt Phillips would have a problem going to either Boston or Montreal. I also wouldn't be surprised if Phillips' list wasn't all that exclusive. However the caveat would be he would not be coming back to Ottawa on July 1st.

I believe Chiarelli would tell hang up the phone, meaning Montreal could match Boston.

From a Habs perspective, I'd be willing to part with Danny Kristo and a 3rd(since we don't have 2nd). Kristo is one of our better prospects, but I'd be willing to bite the bullet because I'm pretty confident Kaberle would re-sign(good fail safe in case of Markov) considering he and Plekanec are very good friends and Kaberle tried to get Plekanec to sign in T.O during the off-season.

Bruins have little incentive to give Toronto back their first, especially for Kaberle.

So in short, everybody and their dog thinks Boston or Montreal wants Phillips.

It boggles my mind how someone could spell Fisher wrong. He's obviously not European.

I'm not sure why the Habs would be after Kaberle when the d-corps is fully of puckmoving d-men. What we need is a strong stay at home d-man like Chris Philips.

Kaberle would be a luxury but he's not a necessity.

Actually, I think a Montreal move could be permanent, while Boston would be a great "loaning" move.

I mean, if I can do Ottawa/Montreal every week-end and sometimes on week days when I have to, Philllips can probably do is as well considering his yearly income is well over 40 times mine.

I've been told by a source close to the Canadiens organization that they're interested in Phillips.

They're also interested in this mysterious player named Eric Stall.

Most of our puckmovement in inexperienced. Kaberle brings some good experience and can eat minutes. Also we will take a lot of attention off of Wisniewski on the point making him more effective.

Kaberle will provide more offense from the back end which is a desperate need. This means more offense in general for the habs. Sometimes improve your GF doesn't necessarily mean you need another top 6 forward. Offense from the point has been a major issue from the habs.

Montreal could be the most likely place he signs in the off-season.
