You forgot to mention they're 17-29-8, the 3rd worst team in the league.

So much toughness, though.

Isn't Bonneu on an AHL contract? Meaning the Habs don't actually own him?

Right.

Habs being gooned: That's what happens when you're playing a sh**** out of control game. Habs got what they deserved. Next time, play your game: a sound and disciplined defense.

Someone should give Kostitsyn a clone of Gionta's heart. And brain.

That's the BIGGEST issue.

The refs let EVERYTHING go. Every freaking fight, every action. It's as if they were favoring to the fans.

I know for sure the MTL/Boston game on March 8 is going to be 100% opposite of what this match was. Refs will be ALOT more strict.

Subban is to the Montreal Canadiens as Sidney Crosby is to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and he should have someone to defend him. That being said, that didn't stop someone from putting Crosby out of action for an extended period of time.

We need a real 4th line.
Max Pacioretty is a baller.
I agree with you pretty much, Subban was VERY up and down tonight, AK is done in MTL, I would be shocked if he is not traded at the deadline.

Max PAC is awesome, he is.

Eller is a centre, he looks awful whenever they move him to wing, he just does. Either give him a centre spot or put him in Hamilton, that simple.

Agreed. Eller has an excuse. He's learning.

WTF is Kostitsyn and Gomer's excuse.

Heard someone mention all we could get for AK is a 3rd. Personally I think that would be just dandy. Give pouliot some ice time instead. Free some cap for a d-man and a real third line grinder.

Everything will be ok, though. Hamrlik will be fine, Spacek will be fine, and Pyatt will be fine - he's a tough kid.

You are exaggerating. No one is asking to become a goon team.

How exactly did the Habs deserve to be gooned up?

Ya they sucked defensively but that justifies wailing on Spacek even after he has fallen to the ice?

I mean, he was technically one of the best fighters, but he would go up behind a player, tap him on the shoulder and hand em a gold embossed invitation to fight.

Laraque was not an effective enforcer. To say that enforcers are unneffective based on that is like saying that because we once had a goalie who couldnt stop a beachball goalies are useless.
He would never do what Thornton did tonight...and Thornton follows the 'code' most of the time too.

did anyone watch SC? TSN basically showed the few fights the Habs lost badly and then say the Bruins are embarassing teams, beating them up, etc.. and that the Habs didn't have the players to deal with it. I mean come on, talk about neutrality.

I'm glad Pacioretty has blossomed this year because AK is just brain dead and his time in Montreal is pretty much done.

I defended him to death over the years but he'll never become anything but a minus in this environment. This is not an easy place to play for guys like him. Hey, he's not the only one... countless guys in this league would be scared to death to be expected to score in this town. But you can't play in Montreal and be that lost most of the time like he is. Look at the hesitation before he challenged the point on one of the goals tonight. Or how often the other teams D pinches on him because they know he's not paying attention.

It will be interesting to see what Gauthier does over the next 2 weeks.

Like somebody said, the only way "We will remember it", dixit Jacques Martin, is that if we take a 5-1 lead next game late in the 3rd, and they get a penalty, our 1st PP will be on the ice....That's the only thing I see.

Still a dumb thing to say when people will make a fighting reference to it and we have nothing to show for.

Do you need to pinch a 6'6 guy in the middle of the street to know that he can kick your butt? A goon is important for the mental side of the game, Subban was ineffective in his own zone cause he was scared tonight. He finally took it upon himself when the win was out of reach and the pushing was super obvious. That's what we have to prevent!
I'm sorry, this is a ridiculous myth that hasn't been true since the 80's, yet people still cling to it. Yeah, in the 80's you wouldn't touch Gretzky because Semenko would come after you. Fine. In this day and age, who's afraid to go after Crosby? Or Ovechkin? Nobody. Hockey is in an era now where stars are expected to fend for themselves. If Crosby got cranked by Steckel (I'll leave it up to you to decide if you think it was dirty or not) with guys like Mike Rupp and Aaron Asham on Pittsburgh's bench, who on earth do you think we could sign that would jump on the ice and defend the likes of Tom Pyatt and Jaroslav Spacek? It's a dream world man, come on.

All you have to do is remember the game against Boston (that was already mentioned) where Laraque chased Lucic up and down the ice while Lucic ran rampant over us to know this mentality is totally useless.
