Gutsy, ballsy.... I love it!!! Even if Miller gives up 4 goals in the first and is yanked.

Wow, I really hope he gets off to a great start and his confidence soars. Then (without me getting too ahead of myself) we can finally trade Biron.

Well, it's not known for sure if Miller is the starter. However, a Philadelphia publication is reporting that he'll be the one to go for tonights game.

If Miller is indeed named the starter, I think it's a very interesting move by Ruff.

total slap in the face to Biron....

well I guess my fantasy team takes another hit....no Heatley, Deadmarsh, Allison, Berezin, Stuart and now Biron doesn't even get to start for me in the first game....great!!!

looking forward to the 2004-05 season already....

not really a slap in the face, management said that whoever played best in preseason would get the the opportunity to play, miller was the best in camp followed by Biron and then noronen. What kind of statement would they be making if they didn't keep to their word. Miller deserves it, Biron will get his chance don't worry.

Preseason Stats

Biron 4GP, 3GS, 181min, 1-2-0, 2.32 GAA, .925SA, 93 shots/86 saves, 0 SO
Miller 4GP, 3GS, 188min, 1-1-1, 1.91 GAA, .913SA, 69 shots/63 saves, 1 SO

Noronen 3GO, 2GS, 120min, 1-1-0, 3.50 GAA, .870SA, 54 shots/47 saves, 0 SO

Miller and Biron are very close. Miller had the good fortune to face a flat Columbus team. Normally the incumbent will get the start unless he's clearly outplayed. I don't think it's a big deal. The Sabres need to see what Miller can do ASAP so the can make a decision with Noronen.

Miller is definitely getting the start. He's the first one out for warmups.

So are they going to carry 3 goalies until someone's traded, or what? I would think they pretty much have to, because Noronen would never clear waivers.

Marty's a classy guy. You won't hear any whining from him.

Exactly..

That's why I feel bad for him

SV% is a more telling stat anyhow and Biron's 925 is much better than a 913.. but it's no big deal because Miller played well.. I just hope this doesn't mess with Biron's head and confidence

...

Nobody puts the backup in the first game of the year barring injuries . This doesn't sound good for Biron...Biron to Colorado ?

good send him to Colorodo for Tanguay

I think Miller is ready and as the games go on he is just going to get better and better. He didnt look like last year..he was focused and wasnt over playing saves getting himself out of position for the shot lke he was last year.

I say play him against the Isles first game in Buffalo and see how he does

I have Biron on my fantasy team also. From the sounds of this thread, noone is sure if he'll be the number one or if Miller has taken over this position.

Has anyone heard any 'rumors' about Biron (other than the ideas in this thread)? If he's headed to COL, I'm likely to keep him and try to pick up Miller also.

Anyone with info on Biron, please pass it on. And thanks in advance.

Muckler started Grant Fuhr in the first game of the 1995 season (Hasek had his breakout year in 93-94) because he wasn't happy with the condition Dom was in.
