Markov staying in Russia?

http://http://chfans.com/in_comments.php?t=8740 (french)

They mention that Andrei may not come back. Does anyone here have more information?

Bob will find a way to reel him in.

Now that Brisebois is out of the picture, I'd like to see how well Markov and Souray they can perform on the point on powerplays together.

More PP time for Markov can only help him get more pts. More pts = more money.

If you do a little searching on our boards, there was quite a lengthy thread a few weeks back about Markov's contract in Russia for next year. It's just like the one Pavel Datsyuk signed, and in both cases, it's still not totally clear on how the escape clause works (the new CBA might bring with it a new agreement concerning player transfers and the like).

Edit: Because it is human nature to be lazy, I went and found the threads for you.

if he really wants to stay in Russia, he should. We don't need players that don't care about wearing the most prestigious hockey sweater. It's an honnour to wear the habs jersey, and there'll always be someone to take his spot.

You make a lot of sense. If Markov doesn't want to play here, or anyone else in the organization for that matter. Good bye! Theirs honestly no point in keeping players that will not put out 100% for the team. Having said that though, i do think Markov will come back. He always seemed to enjoy playing here, and quite honestly, i wouldn't take the medias word on anything being said right now. I mean they could be right, but theirs a good chance that things are being taken out of context, as they often are.

Does he decide to leave the team though, it would be a huge, huge, huge blow to the canadiens.........

for sure. I don't think the guy wants to stay in Russia. It makes too little sense. He's going to get a better paycheck with the habs and he's going to hit his prime in a few years so he has no point in leaving the nhl. Also, he's really good and that would suck if he didn't come back.
