Wanted more of an offensive player but there is no doubt Fisher is an upgrade at least for the rest of the season. But when everyone gets healthy the situation at center and our payroll is gonna be a mess.

i thought your owner was willing to spend more money now

can't you just push Cal O'Reilly to the wing when everybody gets healthy

I'm surprised you guys gave up a first for him.

Like he's a nice player, but a 1st? And then also a conditional pick?

He is a warrior in the playoffs guys. Don't listen to all the other [mod] fans that say he sucks, he has played hurt all season long.

He will definately be missed in Ottawa.

Yikes. I didn't think we'd go after him. Legwand and Lombardi are the exact same type of player.

But I welcome him. He'll fit right in and he's an upgrade over both of the aforementioned. I imagine the reason he costs a 1st rounder was because it's more than a deadline deal. He'll be here for 2 more seasons. He would have cost less if it was just a rental.

Really curious to see what the conditional is. Hopefully no more than a 3rd.

If we didn't pay it, someone would. There's very few true sellers, and Fisher was rumored to be in demand. The conditional pick is one I'm fine with-- we have to win a playoff round for them to get it.

Our first will be in the bottom third. I don't mind the price at all. I would have preferred someone with more offense, but I don't hate the move.

Didn't have to give up a roster player or one of the higher-end d-prospects (Ellis, Josi, Blum). I like it!

He will quickly become a fan-fav. Unreal strength and always gives 100%. Good trade for both sides.

Do we go for more from here??

Poile must've thought there wasn't much drop off in talent between where our first round pick is going to be and the Devils second.

We really don't have a "top line". Everyone is just kinda thrown into random combinations, which change daily. Should be fun to see where he starts.

1st seems a bit much, but considering how high nashville will finish in the standings i guess its ok. Ottawa wins this trade but by a small margin.

Oh and they get carrie underwood too. Can't underestimate that.

Good player and all, but he is best as a 3rd line center, borderline 2nd. Everytime he was relied on to score like a top center is when probablems started.....Not sure what Nashville is thinking (other than a short-term fix where there are injuries)

He is really a slightly better version of Goc.

Poile was probably correct in that assumption. It's a very even draft from 25 to 35.

And yes, I think this is just the start for Poile. Ales Hemsky or Dustin Penner would look fantastic in your top-six, and Edmonton needs what your organization happens to have in spades- top-four caliber defensive prospects.

You just described nearly every single forward on our team. It works under Trotz's system somehow. We basically roll 3 "2nd" lines and a 4th line.

I wasn't sure about this deal, but that just sold be. Goc is my personal favorite player, and if Fisher plays in that mold with more talent, we just made a very good trade.

Well now we have 4 centers that are exactly the same if Lombardi comes back.

I don't mind the trade at all, I love the way Fisher plays and though he has had a down year offensively, he still has all the tools to put up points.

The money, however, does bother me. $4.5, $4.2, $3.5. That's an awful lot of money down the middle. He's also signed for another 2 years after this one. What happens to Goc? Cal O?

Good point. I think this pretty much means Goc is gone after this year. O'Reilly might be back since he isn't as proven.

IMO Cal is gone. We keep Goc.
