John Mitchell (TOR), Tyson Strachan (STL) - [Both cleared]

Per Bob McKenzie

Quote:
TOR puts John Mitchell and STL puts Tyson Strachan on waivers. Voros (ANA), Ritola (TB) both clear.

I think that means Nikita Nikitin will now be full-time with St. Louis.

I wonder why the Blues would do this, Nikitin should be going back to Peoria so he can get playing time instead of making him the 7th dman and having him sit in the press box

Man Marlies could be a powerhouse with all the manpower they are getting back.

Mitchell was clearly outplayed by AHL call-up so it's no surprise

Maybe there's a deal in the works involving a defenseman (coughcoughColaiacovocoughcough), and Nikitin is being kept on to replace what said defenseman brings to the table?

Nikitin's played fairly well of late for the Blues, and the kid can really crank that puck...

No not really. He showed a bit of skill years back, but has never done anything with it. He has the frame, he just doesn't have what it takes in between his ears.

If anyone claims John Mitchell, I will never say anything bad about their team ever again.

Seriously.

I remember watching a Leafs game where he scored two goals and thinking "Oh, this kid could be good..."

Guess I was wrong.

I was thinking the same thing. Army has to have something up his sleeve.

That was my first thought as well, but unless there is a d man coming back then that leaves the team with only 6 at the NHL level, unless they recall someone and they haven't yet. Even if they do bring up a d man it would most likely by Cole and then you have either Cole or Nikitin as a healthy scratch both of which need to be playing. Although they could make Carlo the 7th but i dont see that happening.

Both Mitchell and Strachan cleared according to McKenzie.

Mitchell assigned to the Marlies. Strachan assigned to Peoria.

The Leafs also recall Aulie, as expected.
