Next Rangers Retired Jersey/Number if any??

What will be the next number retired and hung up at the msg rafters?? Does anybody think any former or current player is deserving or will be deserving of this? Maybe king henrik if he one day becomes nyr all time wins leader?

I don't think Greschner is going to make it up there.

That being said: Lundqvist.

He doesn't have to win the Cup to have his name penciled in.

The guy's already set in stone if he continues this consistency.

-----------

What about Jean Ratelle?

I doubt Cally goes to the rafters...unless we win multiple cups under his captaincy.

I also say Hank goes up there, but I remember reading these boards a few months ago and someone (forgot who) was mad that Adam Graves was up there...

Heres a link to rangers career leaders and such. IDK HOW JEAN RATELLE ISNT RETIRED??? That being said henrik is on pace to be 1st in games played, wins and shutouts....i think that is deserving enough.

Ya know, if we keep on retiring numbers at this rate, we're going to run out.

At a rate of 7 in 85 years?

I was mostly kidding, but it's still too much. I'm not a fan of the "retired numbers" thing, unless it's for a player like Gretzky/Lemieux/Orr.

As of now, only Lundqvist, as he will likely break Richter's all time wins record.

There have been no other players on this team in recent years that are on par with what Leetch, Messier, Gilbert, Bathgate, Howell, or even Graves accomplished in their Rangers careers.

Right now Hank, and I'd put in a vote for Greschner or Ratelle as well, but I'm also way too young (20) to know anything about those guys aside from what I've read here or seen on MSG to know about their Rangers legacies.

However Gresh is one of my all time favorite Rangers

Lundqvist, barring a major setback, will have his number retired.

I want to also pose this question. Suppose Jagr somehow had propelled us to a Cup in his 4 years here (the year we lost to Buffalo was probably our best shot), would his number be a consideration?

Not coincidently both of those teams you point out rival each other in the most championships won. There's a reason for the connection there.

Unless the Rangers win some more Cups, there aren't any more Jerseys going to the rafters. There's a reason why there is a cluster of Jerseys from their Stanley Cup championship team. I love Graves as much as the next guy, but lets face it, if he didn't play in the 90s he's not up there.

If Lundqvist passes Eddie and Richter in wins, he should likely have it happen.

Lundy has a chance to break some records especially with the way that his career has started off with the 30+ win seasons and all
