That's also possible..

I think the teams are familiar enough with each other at this stage that little scouting would be required. You may be right though. Or everyone is wrong and we are looking at a Devils player and the Leafs are looking at an Islander.

LOL to the Jaques Lemaire post made me laugh! so many scouts at habs game pretty interesting but most likely is because islanders will be sellers. i like that colombus is there to, id like to see Jarred Boll,CBJ or Crombeen, Brewer STL, or Clarkson NJD in a habs uni and kostitsyn and a conditional could make the deal possible

If it's Grabo, Orr Komisarek I would do it and I am not joking. Having Grabo back just to start brawls with SK when we meet Nashville would be fun.

i'd go for Zenon Konopka. Tough guy who can play a good shift out there and who loves fighting a LOT! And real cheap too.

Yea I know, but he would still be a welcomed addition to this team. If you get Clarkson and then go and get someone like Neil we are atleast respectable now.

Scouts in MTL? Maybe all it will take is an AK goal to send him packing. Come on AK, take one for the team! It would be pretty awesome if he scores the game winner then gets traded the next day!

Would a trade around Eller+ for Bogosian work? Atlanta has plenty of young, defensive depth but lack young forward options going forward. We're the opposite. We have the young guys up front for the future but other than Weber, Subban and Tinordi, we're basically dry back there. It would be a nice shuffle of assets. Not that Eller has failed here, but he's a highly touted prospect who could help us get a young defenseman we badly need.

Next year we could have Markov, Gorges, Subban, Wisniewski, Bogosian, Emelin, Gill and Weber. We could use more sandpaper back there but it's better than what we have now. It would open up a guy to be moved or we let Emelin go.

And what do you think scouting is? GMs tell their scouts to watch x player and make a report on them and if x player could help the team and if hes worth trading away assets.

I think Montreal is scouting:

Toronto:

- Versteeg
- Orr
- Rosehill
- Kaberle

New Jersey:

- Arnott
- Clarkson
- Rolston
- Vochenkov

Way too logic. The deadline is coming, people are doing their job...who would have thought....

Scouts in a city starts to be a news when there's actually a team who's OFTEN seen around. Aside from that, they are just showing why they are paid....

I'm SHOCKED that the Habs would scout 2 non playoff teams before the deadline!!!!

Do we really need this in it's own thread? seriously?

The problem I have with Clarkson is 2.67 mil...that's his cap hit...if he is playing 4th line then his contract is like Gomez's or worse.

At this time of the year there will be many scouts at every game.

Now if there is a deal to be made with the Devils I'd really like Clarkson, good solid player and gave Rosehill a pretty good challenge last night. Maybe Lucic did beat him up but there is no need to fight Lucic, maybe Clarkson could beat up Seguin!

But I'm pretty sure he's the guy PG is looking for.
I would prefer Hordichuk(775k), Winchester(700k), Konopka(600k) or even Henry from Hamilton.

PG: "Hey there Brian, how much do you want for Tomas Kaberle?"
Burke: "Pacioretty and a first should do it"
*sound of phone hanging up*
Burke: "Pierre you there? Hello? Pierre???"

Let's keep in mind that Clarkson is not a GOON per se, he's basically in the Chris Neil category, only tougher. In the last 4 season he's averaged 12 goals per season and plays about 14 minutes per game this year. Goons play 3 minutes per game. We're talking a legitimate third line right winger, with size, toughness, hockey sense and some scoring ability. Basically a productive version of Travis Moen.

2.6 milliom for 12 goals in a lot of money.
