Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it would be fun to put this list together and it was funny how many players Murray brought to Ottawa that he originally drafted.

It's funny because Murray's drafting record is horrible until the 2003 draft, and even the 2004 draft is a bad one.
He's horrible at evaluating pro talent, but good at amateur talent...
Ottawa's done a decent jop drafting since he's been here, and Murray will be the first guy to tell you that because it's basically the only thing he's got somewhat right since he's got here...even in the Mike Fisher trade scrum he said the names "Erik Karlson, Robin Lehner, Cowen, Rundblad" YES we know Bryan, you drafted Erik Karlsson, thank you for reminding us for the 1 000 000 000 time, WE KNOW.
his record is pretty solid. He had a few lean years, but he's also had some pretty good years too. One thing that stands out for me is his success finding players in later rounds, some pretty solid names in there.
One other thing is he's had terrible luck with Russians at the draft table.

He's also had be luck with Russians as UFAs.
That 2003 Anaheim draft is insane - he basically gets 2 franchise players 19th and 28th overall. Plus he uses a late round pick to take a guy named Dirk Southern who I can only assume has had a very successful porn career

his first draft in Detroit was very good. Primeau and Kozlov were very good players and York was a solid NHLer for a long time. His next draft was also pretty good.
He's had a few duds, but I wouldn't say his record is horrible, not by a wide stretch.
Back on topic, it is something interesting that the OP has brought up. I already knew that Murray had drafted Lapointe when he brought him in. I had no idea he was the one who drafted Kuba, and Auld. He also tried to acquire Smid with the original Heatley deal with Edmonton.

I don't really see how any of this is interesting. It's irrelevant
Lapointe - 4th line option brought in at the deadline for a bit of toughness/experience. We gave up a 6th rounder for him I believe.
Auld - was signed cheap as a backup.
Smid - would have been a great pickup instead of Cheechoo - he's a solid d-man.
Kuba - a disaster but wasn't as much of one when acquired.
So whats the point - who cares if Murray drafted them?

If I was one of 5 GMs in the NHL to draft an All-Star defenseman since the lockout, I'd remind people too. Especially since he reads the newspapers and listens to the radio just like everyone else and hears people ******** on him all the time.
Not to mention he looks like he's landed a couple of potential All-Stars in Cowen and Rundblad (still early to tell, but they both have the skills for it).
Two guys in there played a key role in the Ducks team than won the cup, Getzlaf and Perry.
I think Burke deserves a ton of credit for that cup win also.
And he also drafted a Brian Lee in Anaheim.
Its important to note that Murray drafted Smid and Lupul, the two main pieces that returned Pronger, and his drafting success made their next 1st (or next 2?) expendable. Obviously a great deal by Burke, though

Personally, I don't. The OP thought it would be interesting to provide a list of players that BM drafted on other teams, and traded for while here, and I provided.

Yeah, because once he's gone he'll be remembered as the guy who ran the once great Ottawa Senators into the ground and the only thing he did right was draft Erik Karlsson
