Oof that's rough...better now than in the playoffs though, hockey gods willing...they are a fickle bunch...1st in the NHL comes at a price it seems

re: Injuries.....

Nobody remembers when we had Bryan Allen as the #1 D or Edler (when he was a rookie) as the #1 D?

So we have an entire top 4 on the injured list until Saturday when Salo returns?

That's an impressive IR list. If there was a league made up of team's IR lists, we'd be first in the league there as well.

Malkin + Crosby

'nuff said.

They have way more injuries than just those two. What's scary is that they're still winning without them

Although they'd be royally screwed if any of their dmen or goalies go down.

Isn't their blueline & goaltending pretty healthy? You can still win (albeit winning "ugly") with that and they still have Staal (who arguably can be a #1 or develop into one on another team).

Easier to put in "plugs" up front than on the blueline.

I hope this is going to be one of those Hamhuis has a concussion and we can add a $5million power forward and he's magically healed first day of the playoffs dealies.

Yeah, I think I'd just rather just have him back in a week as good as new.

What's with the jab at the Sedins? What a dumb comment.

Uh oh, so he was been upgraded from a 'red mark' to 'little bit of head pressure'.

In AV medical terminology I am pretty sure this means Hamhuis has brain damage.

The replacements that the Canucks have aren't that bad though. Alberts and Rome are solid NHL players and Tanev has been doing well. Certainly the drop off between Edler / Hamhuis / Ballard and them is better than the AHL fodder that is replacing the elite Malkin + Crosby.

Anyone else starting to think maybe Vigneault/Bowness should be telling the D to start easing up from now on? These potential injuries are becoming by far more of a concern than getting a few extra points down the stretch.

Reality?

Beause the Sedins rank #23 and #24 on the team in terms of hits - Henrik with 11 and Daniel with 8.

In the NHL Danile is #686 and Henrik is #658.

Seems an accurate comment.

You should listen to Dr. Vee - after all his father was a physician.

The Sedins have 18 hits between them. Getzlaf has 108. Turn the sensitivity down a notch.

Cue the Chris Tanev is the second coming of Bobby Orr chanters. The same people that are ready to write off Hodgson and Schroeder are those that go the opposite way when unheralded guy comes up and plays well.

Let's all take a breath, the Canucks are great shape. All the injured d-man are projected back by playoff time (hopefully Hamhuis is no Mitchell) and the team should be ready to roll.

What will be interesting is how well Bieksa plays now. There has been plenty of speculation that his game has been severly aided by the unsung play of his partner.

if hamhuis turns into a david perron-type situation then he's essentially out for the year...with the testing that is applied to concussions now i think we should assume he's gone for the season and just be really thankful if he's able to come back at some point

since i have zero faith that salo can maintain a healthy condition down the stretch and into the playoffs, the canucks have to hope that edler can come back on schedule and play big minutes immediately or else they're going to have all sorts of trouble in the first round

for god sakes. the hockey gods are at it again! i blame sami salo... his rippling effect throughtout the entire defensive core over the years. 05/06 was the beginning when the injury bug hits. jovo/ohlund/salo etc.

I can't believe this. It's ironic that night I was terrified watching the Canuck's D going back for the puck in thier own zone and thinkin', "Man, somebody else is going to get hurt as things happen in three's." Sure enough.

I'd call it a border line dirty hit. Getzlaf left his feet.
