Bingo....nobody ever mentions this. Even the elite teams like Detroit and Philly will go with 4 dmen down the stretch of close games. The Rangers had plenty of time off. Staal and Girardi only play 25 mins each...would it have killed Torts to stick with 4?

At a minimum, he should have had either Staal or Girardi double shifted. Nervous Nancy's like MDZ and Gilroy are the last guys you want on the ice late in a close game

This team hasn't had a component GM and Coach since Smith and Keenan.

6 game skid. Wow. I really have to say I thought they'd win this one.

We're in troubled times, here folks. We're on the very edge of the playoffs now.

When things dont look good with the team, bad things happen. I would not pin this game on any one player and obviously no educated fan would. Basically you have to be going up at this point in the year. This is the time of the year the team has too really be moving forward and playing good hockey. Unfortunately it is the opposite and we have looked worse as the season has progressed. It really sad because i liked the look of this team in the first half of the season. Its not easy to pin point why the change has occured, but i can think of a few things. I am not a fan of the transition that has had with this team. Prospal, Wolski vs Fro, Feds really disturbs this teams identity and its showing badly. Plus Cally has not looked good since his return and hey maybe Rozi is missed after all. Just trade a quality D like Rozi, u feel the impact. Not to mention Boyle has gone back to life. Although the biggest thing is other team are starting to get desperate and playing good hockey, guys have warmed up. We have a weak and fragile Gaborik, and struggling Cally and somewhat Dubi (two key guys), Boyle back to life, and new players that are not making this team better.

The Good-McDonagh
The Bad-DelZotto
The Redden-Tortorella for his idiotic ice time allocations.

The bubble appears to have burst. Boyle is not anywhere near as effective. Evander Kane allowed to glide around without anyone laying a body on him for an easy game winner.

MDZ was down in HFD for like 6 games. I thought he should have been down there longer, not like he was tearing it up. They brought him back due to injuries, should have gone back down after. He's been really bad this year, and at this point, I don't think sending him out to the wolves is going to help his progression.

Well everyone overrated Redden when he got $7million. He was considered one of the game's top Dmen. And the Rangers organization and half the people on here still think Del Zotto is the next Brian Leetch.

Just because he missed a Penalty Shot? Not everyone who can score can do Penalty Shots well. Gaborik hustled ALL NIGHT, he created several chances, and he looked like the real Gaborik.

Yeah, Torts cotinuing to play DZ and put him out there with Gilroy is even worse. I don't get it.

I expect Eminger in the lineup on Sunday over either DZ or Gilory.

At some point they need to figure out it's not the coaching. It's the below average roster put together by Sather and Co.

Player of the Game
Ryan ****ing McDonagh - This is the 3rd straight game I've gone with him. Kid is a stud.

The Good
Marian Gaborik - Played with some hustle, for once.
Michael Sauer
Marc Staal
Dan Girardi

The Bad
Artem Anisimov - Missing a wide open net and turning the puck over for the first goal didn't help, buddy.

The Redden
Michael Del Zotto - Off to Hartford, with ye.

Sather overrated Redden when he paid Redden that; most Rangers fans knew he wasn't worth that much money and that he was no longer an elite defenseman.

I wonder why people think this team is getting close. We're 3, 4 years and alot of changes away form contending as evidenced by the play on the ice. This isn't a slump it's a total collapse of a team that had been playing way above it's head all season.

Good question, but to be fair, Renney had a veteran-heavy team whereas Torts has 75 pct kids.

Barring a Cavaliers-esque losing streak, i think Torts finishes out the season -- playoffs or not.

Personally, I'd like to see a Bylsma or Sacco type coach this team.

Every team needs a guy like Prospal and Fedotenko, I understand Frolov, but Wolski has been great since the trade here.

Why is the Zuccarrello line getting so little icetime? no wonder the scoring has been down.

Tortorella is relying on the Prospal line too much. when they haven't been anywhere near as good as the Zuccarrello line.
