I would totally do it except that we don't need Phillips.

I was going to breakdown my "no" in several ways, but I'll just leave it at the fact that your proposal is not cap compliant.

It would be like the Heatley trade again to a lesser degree. Getting a player you don't really need for good value.

Well, Philips would be an upgrade to Huskins and or Wallin so i'd take him if they with take one of the two back in cap dump.

Except by doing that, you prevent yourself from getting the answer you need in other positions. There's only so much cap space to go around.

Doesn't he have a NTC as well? I'm not sure he'd waive it to come to San Jose.

And another no here. We don't need a defenseman that doesn't do a whole lot on offense.

Would Philips really be that much of an upgrade over Huskins?

Absolutely, but we don't need to be spending that kind of money on another defensive defensemen.

Would McGinn really be a big loss?

at the moment? No. But he's young, and when he's on his game he's a nice depth forward to have on the 3rd line.

"Big" is subjective.

I was watching NHL on the Fly yesterday, and they were updated various injuries around the league. Zidlicky is still out from that separated shoulder McGinn gave him months ago. You can say what you want about him, but I really like the tenacity that the kid plays with. Good 3rd liner for the future.

Hold on, are you evaluating his value by how badly he injured someone?

if you've ever played EA NHL 10 or 11, you know good this guy could become.

Not at all

I just wish some of our big-name players played with tenacity as frequently as McGinn, Eager, and Nichol do. Since they don't, I gotta get my fill from some of these other guys.

For awhile, I thought we'd be referencing it about the 'Gin and Juice' line this season. This makes me a saaaaaad panda.
