Eminger? He has been healthy scratched for 3 or 4 games for no good reason in favor of Del Zotto the offensive dynamo.

Del Zotto down. Hell, bring Valentenko up, scratch Gilroy.

still can't understand what this kid is doing in the lineup. He's terrible out there. Eminger was playing good, i just don't get this.

I was OK with playing DZ for a few games to see if he's improved his play after his short stint in Hartford.

But it's quite clear he still hasn't learned from his mistakes. I'm not sure if it's stubbornness or if he's slow to adjust or whatnot. But it's taking him a long time to learn, and 10 games in the AHL wasn't enough to rid him of some bad habits. It might be better off for his development if he played in the AHL for the rest of the season.

Torts was convinced of this, seems like Sather might have told him to play him?

I meant Gilroy, sorry. Eminger should be playing.

Yeah he strikes me as a whimp, I sometimes believe I can see fear in his eyes.

Calling him up over Valentenko was a big mistake. Keeping him in the lineup when Girardi came back was even worse mistake.

Looks like he's playing scared half the time. I just can't foresee a situation where he plays well under Torts again. He's obviously petrified of the guy.

I disagree, the thing I like about him is he is not afraid to throw big hits including hip checks. But other than that he just doesn't look like a very good player, even Gilroy is better.

I say we make a three-way trade:

New York: Steve Eminger, Pavel Valentenko
Press Box: Matt Gilroy
Connecticut: Michael Del Zotto

He's just out of his league now. Last year he got a free ride from the opposition because they did not think about him at all. This year, they know how to exploit him.

He's a nice kid, and it pisses me off to see Tortorella ripping a strip off him on the bench. Del Zotto should not be dressing for NYR, at least not if they want to hold on to a playoff berth. If all they want to do with the rest of this season is make it an extended training camp for players who need to learn, then carry on.

Leave Michael in Hartford and if he has not learned how to be a defenceman by training camp in September, then his status will be clear.

I mean mentally he's a whimp, afraid of making mistakes.

If you have played hockey before: If you are afraid of making mistakes, most likely your going to make them.

When Torts was talking to him after he got out of the box and came back to the bench, he looked like a whimp.

Torts failed DZ as much as DZ failed the team .puck took funny bounce but it should have been mived through neutral zone not played back at that point in game . He shouldn't be on the ice Ww made a bad play there .

I think MDZ has a future in the NHL, but the kid doesn't belong out there right now. Not to mention he's dressing every night on a team that's in the playoff hunt right now, AND a team that was playing so damn solid with Eminger in the line-up.

1 player has made a drastic difference from a defense we were all excited about, to being a team that's back to letting one goal per game in from a player in the low slot being matched up against MDZ.

His development is taking huge strides backwards. He was atrocious last season in his own zone, but the kid was running the PP pretty darn well for a 19 year old. Now he's still atrocious on the blue line and he's completely ineffective with the puck on his stick.

I find it strange to watch him play. He can play really good for long periods of time, but then he makes really, really bad mistakes at key points in the game. Seems to me that he is just outright nervous, and needs some time in the AHL to get the confidence in his game back. The wise thing would be to let him play ALH hockey the rest of the year and hopefully that would "fix" him. I would not trade him at this point as he is still pretty young for a d-player, and has potential.

felt bad for the kid after they showed Torts absolutely flipping a **** on him after the 3rd goal. DZ was on the verge of tears
