We NEED to win EVERYTHING about this game...

The Stare downs...

The Fights....

The face off's..

and so on and so on....

We also NEED to OWN the area around BOTH goal's...

That'show you *** win....

Loss # 7 is NOT an option...

Did some analyzing last night...

Season Limit for playoffs (pts)
09-10 88
08-09 93
07-08 94
06-07 92
05-06 92

So looking at the last five seasons, the average points to take a last playoff spot is 92 pts.

New York Rangers (29-24-4)
25 games left
Has to take 30 points to have 92 points.
Possible last 25 games: 15-10-0 or e.g. 13-8-4
Has to take 1,2 points per game average

Games Left/Tip to make PO/Past games this season

Pittsburgh Penguins W 2-2
Los Angeles Kings L 0-0
New Jersey Devils W 3-1
Philadelphia Flyers L 0-3
Carolina Hurricanes W 1-2
Washington Capitals W 2-1
Tampa Bay Lightning OTL 0-3
Buffalo Sabres W 2-0
Minnesota Wild W 1-0
Ottawa Senators W 1-1
Philadephia Flyers L 0-3
Anaheim Ducks L 0-0
San Jose Sharks OTL 0-0
New York Islanders W 3-1
Montreal Canadiens L 0-3
Pittsburgh Penguins L 2-2
Florida Panthers W 1-2
Ottawa Senators W 1-1
Boston Bruins L 1-1
Buffalo Sabres W 2-0
New York Islanders W 3-1
Philadelphia Flyers L 0-3
Boston Bruins OTL 1-1
Atlanta Thrashers OTL 1-2
New Jersey Devils W 3-1

21/25 games in the Eastern Conference

Remember these are just numbers and observations... If we lose today we could beat the Kings and be on our way just the same.

By the way... anyone else think it's sad we've lost to TB and Montreal 3 times in a row?

I never root for the Rangers but today I'm making an exception, I hope you guys beat their ***** from start to finish on the scoreboard as well as dominating them physically. Basically just kick their ***** in!

Truly a gut check match from a pair of teams that are WAY down in the dumps right now.

Time to win! My "brother" is a big time devils fan and he is convinced that they will make the playoffs. If the Rangers fail to clinch a spot I will be extremely disappointed. Bring the energy, bring your a-game and bring your true blue pride!

Here's the real problem with todays game. At this point it appears all you need is an average professional goalie and you could ice a team of echl'ers and we still wont score more than 2 goals. Doesn't matter who's out of the Pens lineup, we just can't score. Its not like were being outworked or anything, the Rangers just dont get the job done.

Now were at home where we are noticable softer, and we have a team full of guys struggling to make and stay in the NHL coming in...I see 4 possible scenarios-

Doesn't matter what happens, Hank rebounds and shuts them out...(20%)
Our scorers finnally wake up and pump in a half dozen....(14%)
We play another good effort with no finish....(59%)
The messiah returns -- With 30 seconds left, in a tie game, down a man from a lazy penalty, Messiers jersey falls from the rafters, lands over the Pens goalies head as Lundqvist flips a clear the length of the ice that slides in past the startled goalie....(7%)

Looks about right....did I go to high with the percentage on our scorers waking up?

There are only 2 scenarios for this game.

1. The Penguins injuries are just too much, and the Rangers take advantage of their AHL-quality forwards, outscoring them in the process.

2. Fleury has a great game, and the Penguins' very solid, and healthy, defense core shuts us down, while plugs like Mike Rupp chip in timely goals and they edge out a victory, culminating in boos and objects being thrown on the ice.

T finally started getting it's legs back under it last game. Of course panic mode has set in but we can start to turn it around any game and I'd be shocked if it isn't this one. Setting up boots around the room to throw at the tv from any angle.

There comes a time where your team hasn't done enough things to win a hockey game, and I think we are there.
We need someone or a group of people to help us kick over into a win.- John Tortorella

....you mean do your job?

sadly and i hate to be pessimistic , but i have seen entirely too much of this lately , this scenario appears to be our destiny . Hank with some circus saves as usual but a Mike Rupp kick in off his body or a bad angle softy seems to be our destiny . Hard work and 50 shots into fleury pads or stomach dont get it done

it's okay guys, the Rangers have gotten at least a point to every game i've gone to this year. and i'm going today, 4 rows from the ice, last time i sat in those seats, was the 8-2 win vs. the Oilers.

Today will tell us a lot about some of our guys . Today might be judgment day for a lot of Rangers...who will stay and who will go . Dubie/Boyle/Cally/Gabby really have to step it up a notch today and act like leaders . There is no reason why we cannot punish their defense with Rupp being the only scary guy in the game for them...since Brent Johnson is not starting !

Did anyone hear Stiegerwald's comments about the Islanders and their franchise the other day? Very, very unprofessional. I actually felt sorry for the Islanders because that piece of garbage Stiegerwald and what he said--it makes me wonder how that guy can even have a job.
